Proto-Indo-European – Lingua Franca for the Imperium

If Europe had witnessed at some stage during the last couple of centuries the unification of France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Romania and parts of Switzerland and Belgium, perhaps as the result of a successful campaign by Napoleon, then the interesting question arises: which language would the people of the new Mediterranean Imperium have chosen to communicate with each other?

Southern European lingua franca

My guess is that Latin would have soon overcome any rivals – notably French. It is from Latin that all the Romance languages evolved, so none of the participant nations of this hypothetical Napoleonic Imperium need feel slighted by having their language and culture ignored. All are off-spring of the Roman Empire. A stable empire demands a common language, but forcing French as a lingua franca onto the peoples of southern Europe would seem to serve the petty interests of French nationalism, rather than those of a Napoleonic Imperium aiming for centuries-long progress with stability. Additionally, Latin had been the language of the educated classes, of the natural sciences and humanities, throughout Europe for many centuries.

Literary tradition

With the advent of the IMPERIUM during the early 21st Century, a similar problem arises. Which language, out of the proud literary traditions of England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Scandinavia or Russia, will the peoples of Europe decide to use to talk to one another?

Once again, the answer is straightforward: Aryan, or Proto-Indo-European, to give it the polite, if cumbersome, moniker.

On the practicality of such a venture, extensive and plausible reconstructions of the original Aryan language were already available by the middle of the 19th Century, ironically a generation before the abortive liberal experiment of Esperanto. Instead of patching together some artificial language like an intellectual Meccano kit, how much better to take inspiration from the source of all the languages, nations and tribes of Europe: the source of not only our language but our culture, our metaphysics and the very stuff we are made of! All the major tribes and language-groups of Europe (Celts, Germanics, Balts, Slavs, Hellenics and Italics, as well as many beyond) are direct descendants of the Proto-Indo-European ur-speech, so no nation need complain of alienation: instead all will rejoice in their common brotherhood. Necessary new words arising from new technologies can be incorporated into common-language Aryan much as they are today, perhaps even maintaining the Greek/ Latin composite pattern.

Natural language for Europeans

Once a common Aryan language is taught in all our schools across Europe, in addition to the regional or national mother-tongue, we will see two immediate benefits.
The first is practical. For the first time in millennia, the people of Europe will be able to speak to each other with ease. We can expect a corresponding acceleration of our culture, science and economy.

The second advantage is more esoteric, yet more profound, especially for the individual mind. Studying the roots of our own language will give us a deeper understanding of ourselves, as a member of a nation, a tribe (Celtic, Germanic, Slavic etc.) and as part of a potentially eternal race and culture.

Language is deeply implicated in consciousness; our native tongue forms our perception at the same time as exterior reality informs and modifies our language. As well as revealing the deepest strata of the European weltanschauung, study of the original Aryan language will necessarily throw light on significant divergences between one's own native language and the pan-continental speech from which it evolved. For instance: the subsequent development of the future tense in Germanic languages by use of the verb “will”. Not only will Europeans better understand the metaphysical structure of our 10,000+ years of shared culture, as outlined in Georges Dumézil's trifunctional hypothesis, but also the particular viewpoint and contribution summarized in the idiosyncrasies of their own unique mother tongue.

The argument for the original Aryan language as the common language of the future pan-European IMPERIUM is powerful: it will bring to each individual a fuller appreciation through words of both their nation and their race and culture, and their station in the cosmos.

Psychological Aspects of the European Revolution

The European Revolution will be above all else the Revolution of the Psyche
- and therefore it will be the most decisive event in our history.
It will release terrible destructive forces, but it will also lead us toward
healing, understanding and coming together.
We will re-define ourselves: Who we are, what we are made of, where do we
stand in this endless universe and what will be our destiny.
We will learn to understand how it affects us that we are an integral part
of our land, that our body is the creation of our soil and that this bond is
both mentally and physically absolutely vital.
We will learn to understand how our landscape - trees, sea shores,
mountains, meadows and villages shape our body and mind...
... and how the masses of poor hostile aliens, parasites, creatures of urban
jungle can never share this.
The white cliffs of Dover is not just beautiful rhetoric
- That sight, that landscape affects you physically through your emotions
and therefore those cliffs are part of you - physically.
We will learn that this kind of bond gives us certain rights and certain
duties.
We will learn to value our emotions - our love for our country and our
devotion for our people - because the relationship between the emotions and
the physical world is the same as the relationship between energy and
matter.
- Our emotions, more often than we care to admit, dictate our actions and
our actions shape the physical world around us.
The European Revolution will be a pantheistic revolution, because it
emphasizes the eternal cycle of nature and life.
The European Revolution emphasizes community rather than individual.
- It will be a powerful antidote against egoism, consumerism and
materialistic greed.
The European Revolution challenges the notion that man lives only to himself
and is separate from nature.
The European revolution aims at reinstating the natural order, which was
lost in the wake of the scientific and industrial revolution.
- Unlike Christianity, which is preoccupied with the salvation of the
individual soul and its eternal life after the physical death, we seek
immortality as members of our community, race, and as parts of the
ecosphere. Instead of waiting for rewards in the afterlife we value this
moment and this wondrous universe around us.
The European Revolution is also the revolution of the forbidden dark side of
our nature!!
For the naive liberals everything should always be nice and easy.
We however should see man as a whole, who is not complete without both
aspects of his personality - light and dark. And when the need arises we
must not hesitate to call upon the more complex side of our personality -
the dark undercurrent of the subconscious - our inner beast.
For decades we have been living in a fantasy world. The liberals have
declared that the beast is dead and our subconscious has been tamed -
reason, tolerance, materialism have prevailed and our past, our original
sin, has been exorcised. The cobwebs of violence, lust and hate have been
cleared away and light has entered where darkness once ruled.
But now as the liberal world is quickly deteriorating we can see that the
beast is very much alive after all. It has been only dormant for the past
sixty odd years, but it never went away, it never left us.
So far we have been told that if you are a decent person - study hard, work
hard, pay your taxes, obey the law - you will be rewarded for this. You will
get a decent job, a nice home and you'll be able to provide your family. You
will be respected for your efforts and you and your family will be protected
against crime and violence.
But things are rapidly changing - no matter how decent you are, no matter
how much you try you will not be rewarded:
- The rampant immigration turns the country that used to be yours unbearable
for you to live in - now you are the alien in your old neighbourhoods.
- You become the main target of the ethnic crime simply because you are
white.
- The police is unable and the courts unwilling to protect you.
- Those who sponge on the society ridicule you for you for your efforts.
- Habitual offenders prey on you.
- Politicians and media demand you to deny your identity.
- Your children are taught to hate themselves.
- The economic and social fabric of the society falls apart - the schools
rot and the Health Care System is in ruins.
- Year after year your life and the life of your family becomes economically
more and more precarious - you have to work harder to make ends meet and
still it is not enough.
- The future holds nothing good for you anymore, nothing to look forward to,
things are only going from bad to worse...
... you start having doubts ...
The pattern brakes, you are on your own.
- Slowly you start to get angry, but at first you don't realize it because
you are told by the system that you should be content.
- It is your own fault if you can't adapt to the changing world.
- Change is for the better - you should be happy.
- Feeling discontent equals disobedience.
- Only bad people do not welcome the change.
- In order to be good you must accept everything.
But you can't accept the change, because you can see that everything is
going wrong.
You struggle with your emotions - you want to be like the others, go with
the flow, believe in the lies and hope that maybe just maybe things will
work out in the end - at least for you...
... but you can't.
This conflict within makes you sick. You are constantly agitated, you feel
nauseous, weak and powerless, you have short of breath. It as if a heavy
weight was laid on your chest.
... Until one day you realize just how angry you are, but more than that,
you realize that you have every right to be angry.
- You accept your anger.
- The beast is awoken!!
Gradually you start working on your anger, you refine your anger - you
refine your anger into HATE! and now you are on your path to recovery - for
anger makes you weak but hate makes you strong!
Nowadays there is a lot of talk about hate crimes. There is an entire body
laws against hate crimes. Everybody seems to be worried about hate. Hate
appears to be the gravest problem of our time.
- But hate is good.
- Hate gives a structure to our life.
- Hate gives us a reason to exist, a focus, something to strive for, an
identity.
- Hate is energy, pure energy, provided by mother nature herself.
- Hate enables us to see through lies and pretense and helps us to
concentrate on the essential.
- Hate is democratic - even the rich and powerful cannot hate more than
their slaves and subjects - and soon hate may well be all that we have left.
- Hate emancipates - without hate for slavery you cannot break your shackles
and without hate for injustice there can be no justice.
- The greatest achievements of the human race have grown from hate and from
the ability control hate.
- Hate separates humans from animals. Animals do not hate but humans do.
Humans can hate for decades sometimes their entire life. We can even pass
hate on to our children and keep hate alive for centuries.
- Hate is a sign of an abstract intellect for only humans can hate people
they have never seen or met and only humans can hate concepts and processes.
- How can we know what love is if we refuse to recognize and understand
hate. Love and hate are the two opposite sides of the same coin - without
hate we are only halflings.
- In order to be complete we need hate.
- Only fools talk endlessly about love but forget the hate.
- Hate separates us from the meek and docile masses.
- Do not fear hate, do not deny or reject hate.
- Accept hate, embrace hate, learn to know it, learn to use it.
- Hate is your most powerful weapon, a hidden source of your strength. Do
not deny it from you.
- What the liberal elite fears most in this world is our ability to hate,
because our hate will one day be the most revolutionary force on the planet.
- Our hate will destroy and create empires.
The European Revolution is also a biological necessity, because it is the
call of the wild in us!
- Reason, tolerance and moderation step aside when the beast takes over.
- It is our animal side, our subconscious, that challenges our weak, kind,
liberal-minded and civilized super ego.
- The reptilian parts of our brains turn against the Cortex, the new comer
of the brain, the realm of sterile intellectual speculation and theoretical
non-sense.
- We need to be guided by our sexual urge, our territorial greed, our
violent impulse and excessive passions.
- For reason has lead us astray and intellect has betrayed us: they have
rendered us self-hating wimps and timid, spineless wind bags.
- Modern world has turned into a deadly trap to us and liberal humanism has
broken all its promises.
Very soon we will experience the hour of the wolf, the moment when our dark
side takes over, when the entire race is consumed with burning desire to
survive - at any cost, at any means. And then the next decades our dark side
will reign without constraint leading us from this dead end and eventually
saving us.
- The world thought we would be an easy prey but the reverse will happen and
we become the hunter.
- Now as the civilized, orderly, liberal world is falling into chaos and as
the organized society retreating in the face of mob violence and rampant
crime it is only natural that we also become what we truly are:
We are products of struggle!
Millions of years of merciless evolution has bestowed on us strength and
abilities that we have simply forgotten or denied their existence.
- The European Revolution will be a great process of healing as we come to
terms with all aspects of our personality - even accepting the dark side -
and as we finally start defending our honour and dignity and have the nerve
and the audacity to demand respect.
- We are proud of our achievements and we understand that we have the right
exist as who we are.
The European Revolution and the psychology of power.
The so called revolutionary left seems to be more interested in tearing
everything down rather than building anything new - let alone preserving
anything we have built so far.
For the radical leftists revolution seems to be a kind of orgiastic climax
of bad behaviour - children taking over the nursery, jumping up and down in
their beds and playing with food - and maybe even running into the drawing
room and knocking down the Ming vase.
For the radical leftists society is like an authoritarian father against
whom you constantly rebel - or in a more freudian sense, want to murder -
yet at the same time you always expect him to pay the bills.
We have to be so much more mature!!!
This continent, this civilization is our heritage and we must reclaim it
from those who have stolen it. We must take back what is rightfully ours and
then build it to the best of our abilities.
While the left spends all its time and energy breaking everything down and
alienating the ordinary people we must be the system builders - like the
ancient Romans - always willing to build our society, always prepared for
voluntary work and always perfecting our organization and methods.
While the radical left only makes demands on the society we must think what
we can contribute to our society.
While the radical left by its nature is deeply parasitical we will be its
exact opposite - a constructive national force.
Our enemies are lazy parasites, criminals and anti-socials. Through work,
organization and discipline we will be giants compared to them. We will
leave a mark on this world but they will disappear - and not even a memory
shall remain after them.
While the radical left only wants to shock and aggravate the ordinary tax
payers and law abiding citizens we must constantly think how to seduce the
mind of the masses, how to appeal to the man of the street, how to respond
to his psychological needs, how to use his fears and dreams to allure him to
us.
- Because there is one element the radical left always manages to ignore, a
factor in a political struggle, which is absolutely vital if you really want
to change the world.
-- This element is power!
In their childish tantrums the radical left always fails to recognize the
importance of power.
- We however, have to make power the corner stone of everything we do
- The Germans have the expression "Wille zur Macht" - the will to power or
lust for power.
- We must have the will to power, we must lust for power.
- Every waking hour we must think how to get the power and to use it.
- We must be consumed with desire for power.
- Only fools think that you can change the world without power.
- Only wimps and losers think that it is wrong to have power over others.
- And only naive simpletons who know nothing of this world believe that you
can smash the power, destroy it, make it go away, create a world without
power.
- Where there are people there is power - political, economic, religious,
social, sexual power - then it is just a matter of choice whether you want
to rule or be ruled.
- We must accept this fundamental truth that power is everything and that we
must be prepared to do everything to get it.
- We must make ourselves attractive to power.
- We must constantly think of power, we must constantly talk about power.
- We must make everybody understand that all we do, say or think is about
power.
- We must make everybody understand that our movement is about power,
absolute power, power with no bounds.
- And we must make everybody aware that we already know that we will get the
power - for we have the will, the means ... and time is on our side.
- Why should we do this?
- Firstly, the more you want something the better are your chances of
getting it. The first step in getting anything is wanting it, believing that
you get it, visualizing that you get it.
Through exercises of positive affirmation we become stronger, more
convincing - to ourselves and to people around us - and we increase the odds
of achieving our goals.
- Secondly, we must mesmerize our enemies like the snake paralyzes its prey
with fear before the strike.
Our liberal enemies are already feeling the pinch. They are not quite so
certain anymore that their ideal world would come after all... their doubt
grows year after year.
While the liberals are gradually losing their faith our absolute certainty
that we will take over the society tells the liberals that we know something
they don't - and this makes them nervous.
The liberals are already in defense and defense always eventually leads into
defeat.
The Revolution of Self-Discipline:
The Left is always very busy advocating lofty ideals - human rights, civil
rights, freedom of thought, freedom of speech, freedom of expression - the
list goes on. But when you take a closer look at the Left - especially the
radical left - these words get a very different meaning.
The leftist concept of freedom means freedom to sponge on the society,
freedom to terrorize the public to express your precious political views,
freedom to intimidate people who don't share your values, freedom to break
the law if you feel like it, freedom to steal if it fits your own personal
code of ethics ... and in general ... freedom to behave like a total brat.
We can safely say that the most influential and destructive philosophical
innovation the modern left had for the western societies was the idea that
no one is ever accountable for one's actions.
- Just think how the leftist thugs and trotskyite punks defend themselves
after they have burned cars, looted stores and vandalized property
- Or think how the leftist university intellectuals defend them.
- Whatever these bums have done they are never guilty of anything - it is
always somebody else.
It is not the punks carrying Molotov's cocktails who burn cars - by some
twisted logic we should actually blame the police.
When shop windows are smashed you shouldn't blame the rock throwing
Trotskyites but the system that forces them to do so.
When you see public places being vandalized, remember that vandalism is
simply a justified reaction of our young people against racism and
oppression.
Philosophically the left states that man is simply a product of the society
and therefore we should always blame the society for everything and not to
expect the individual to control his behaviour in any way.
- In the eyes of the modern left self-discipline equals fascism.
This attitude makes sense when we remember that already the "heroic"
revolutionary struggle of the young radical leftists in the 60's was only a
childish tantrum of the most pampered and spoiled generation this planet had
so far seen.
It was easy to play revolution here in the affluent west, to challenge and
defy the "system" which was a democratic, well meaning, welfare society, to
demand freedom when you already were free.
- And still for decades we have been forced to listen to the self-praise of
the 1968 generation for their heroic achievements - especially how they
liberated us from the stuffy reactionary values of the past.
The message of the infantile revolution of the 60's nevertheless is that bad
behaviour is revolutionary activism.
It has become painfully obvious that modern leftism is simply a form of
regression to a childlike state of irresponsibility and low impulse control.
Since we live in societies where leftist values are predominant the ultimate
form of rebellion is SELF DISCIPLINE.
The European youth will realize that the best way to defy this repugnant,
decaying system is by exercising strict self-discipline and by displaying
strength of character and sense of duty.
The generations that will reach adulthood in the coming decades have the
freedom of choice and to the amazement of the society this is what they will
choose.
The European Revolution will be the revolution of the Will and
Self-Discipline. - It will be a rite of passage into adulthood for our young
people.
For the European Youth this revolution means:
a) Taking charge
b) Carrying the responsibility
- no more hiding behind anyone's back, no more excuses.
c) Making demands on oneself
d) Growing up through sacrifice
e) Becoming wise and strong through work and struggle
The European Revolution means being relentless, unyielding and proud!
The European Revolution will be more than anything else a deeply
psychological revolution. It will reform us so that we can once again be
mature adults... ... fit to rule the world.

Aryan Consciousness

I've found through personal experience that the easiest route to understanding the core of Aryan spirituality (apart from hallucinogens) is by reflecting on the insights of Georges Dumezil, Alain Danielou, Edred Thorsson (Stephen Flowers), Alby Stone etc. and their tri-partite structural theory of Indo-European metaphysics, culture and society, based in part on the human body. It is this nexus that in one direction links to Hindu and Buddhist non-dualism, in another direction links to Nietzsche and Heidegger, and in a third direction directly links to the earliest Aryan myths, worldview and societal structures that are the continuing unacknowledged inspiration for our civilization today.

Greek Philosophy and Particle Accelerators

Heraclitus and Non-Dualism

The pre-Socratic Greek philosopher Heraclitus has been heroized by many since his death, most recently by European Identitarians and the European New Right.

Heraclitus famously postulated that all things in the Universe are made of One Thing: Fire. In a sense, he is right, if by Fire you mean energy; if Fire is interpreted as energy. Energy and mass are interchangeable, as triumphantly demonstrated by nuclear physics. They are in the final analysis One Thing. Eastern Aryan philosophy (the Dharmic religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism) had already postulated the idea of the One Thing: consciousness. In effect, they were saying that consciousness is energy; the One Thing that in the cosmos of Heraclitus everything is made from: Fire. We don’t yet know (due to the lack so far of the remaining fragments of recorded writings) whether Heraclitus himself was explicitly non-dualist.

“This world was created not by God or men,” wrote Heraclitus “but it existed, exists and will exist forever like an eternal living flame…” ON BEING A PAGAN, Alain de Benoist p143.

Man, by being conscious, and also self-reflective, partakes of the divine. He is as much that One Thing as everything else. “the gods are immortal men, whereas men are mortal gods; our life is their death and our death is their life” – Heraclitus. “That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange aeons even death may die.” – horror-fiction writer H.P. Lovecraft.

One of the aims of Aryan Futurism is to demonstrate and prove, by experimentation with matter (in accordance with our Aryan Faustean/ Promethean spirit), that consciousness and energy are the same thing, in the words of Heraclitus: Fire.

What happens to consciousness during FTL (faster than light travel)? The Greeks and Shakespeare believed that nothing is swifter than thought.

Enlightenment? Drugs help, and hallucinogens are sacred in all Aryan religions. Everything is on fire and everything is burning with consciousness. We are burning the time barrier, burning space and burning consciousness, simply by existing.

If I have succeeded in establishing a connection between Heraclitus and advaita Hindu and other non-dualist philosophies, then that is an accomplishment I hoped to do: a synthesis of eastern Aryan and western Aryan philosophy.

NB: Fascism has always claimed to be the ultimate synthesis – the final resolution. Fascistic Thought is always at the vanguard of seeking resolutions to the most contemporary dilemmas: left versus right, poor versus rich, environment versus big business, thallasocracy versus continental empire, globalized consumer capitalism versus European Identitarianism and nationalism, the individual versus the collective. Liberal, multicultural “gay” versus the Aryan homosexual.

For that reason, we European Fascists (defined in the sense of the true inheritors of the Hegelian dialectic) are always at the forefront of any dilemma, seeking resolution. We are surfers at the crest of the wave. So Fascism is best thought of as a process; a process whereby conflicting polarities are resolved.

Of course there are differences between historical Fascism and Aryan Futurism, not least the latter’s belief in pan-Europeanism and the pagan Aryan Imperium with a stronger emphasis on technology and expansion into outer space, and our Olympian destiny.

Of course I believe in the Gods because I created them and they created me. In Europe, European Identitarians and continental New Rightists have examined our current dilemmas with surgical precision.

You know I’m right.

Involution, Evolution, Consciousness and Western Destiny

While eastern Aryan religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism and Sufism to some extent have followed a path of spiritual evolution through detachment, the European Aryan worldview is more a process of involution. Whereas Indians etc. have chosen to ignore the material world and taken this rejection to the extreme of describing the outside world as “Maya” - illusion - we have (from the Ancient Greeks onwards) forced our consciousness into previously inanimate objects.

We have “involved” ourselves in matter. Of course the route we have chosen is extremely hazardous, with the danger that we become trapped in materialism without appreciating higher values, but the benefits are enormous. I wonder if because of our nature western civilization was pre-destined to undergo this “fall” into matter, a process which accelerated after the scientific and industrial revolutions in Europe (i.e. what Julius Evola calls modernism).

If so, then for me the only meaningful course is to continue with our involution into matter until we have “broken through”, perhaps by Faster-Than-Light travel or some other technological means, to another “spiritual” realm. We already know from quantum mechanics that solid matter is far less solid than previously suspected; I think this could have been our civilization's initial step upward from the Nineteenth Century nadir of perception of a purely mechanical, dead universe.

Complexity

The Eastern path of spiritual evolution may be premature, at least for us Europeans. Eastern and Western philosophy concur that once an entity reaches a sufficient level of complexity it can experience human-like consciousness. Instead of reflecting on what already is, we in the west have projected this complexity into nature and experimentation, thereby creating an unprecedented control over matter. Yet we welcome more challenges. Our scientific and technological impulse toward creativity shows no sign of abating.

For us, materialism is not the evolutionary “dead end” as it is so often described in esoteric writing; instead it is our road to becoming something more than human.

Using Runes: Starting

Runes were the first comprehensive script used by the peoples of central and northern Europe. They are accessible to all who share this inheritance, and who approach the Runes with the right attitude.

The original 24-Rune Futhark was developed, probably from a combination of Etruscan, Greek, Italic and early Germanic symbols, around 250bce. In Norse mythology the god Odin is credited with the discovery of the Runes after being hanged on the World Tree for a period of 9 days. 'Futhark' has the same meaning as 'alphabet' and is constructed in a similar manner, using the initial sounds of the first 6 Runes. The Anglo-Saxons later added a further 9 Runes, while the Scandinavians eventually cut the number down to 16. At the beginning of the Twentieth Century a German called Guido von List invented an 18-rune Futhark known as the Armanen Futhark. It was this Armanen Futhark that was later appropriated by the Third Reich. Since it has no archaeological validity, it is beyond the scope of this essay. The 24-Rune 'Elder Furthark' is the earliest Futhark, was used for the longest time-period, and is considered the standard today.

The traditional tripartition of the 24 runes is: FEHU to WUNJO = first aett; HAGALAZ to SOWILO = second aett; TIWAZ to OTHALA = third aett. 'Aett' simply means 'group of eight' and each group is traditionally ruled over by different male and female cosmic forces, in accordance with George Dumezil's tri-functional hypothesis of Aryan mythology and culture.

It is always best to make your own Runes, rather than relying on commercially manufactured Runes. This is easy to do, whether on wood (as is traditional), stone, bone or metal.

Time

Sometimes the last two runes (DAGAZ and OTHALA) are swapped around, especially when the runes are used for measuring time, so that DAGAZ is the last rune - marking mid-day. If you want to use the runes as a clock, then the runes follow each other on the half-hour, starting with FEHU (12:30-13:30), then URUZ (13:30-14:30) and so on, until DAGAZ (11:30-12:30); so that the middle of the “hour-glass” shape of the DAGAZ Runestave marks mid-day exactly.

Mid-day is to the day as mid-Summer is to the year, so you can also use the runes as a calendar, with the central point of DAGAZ indicating mid-Summer, and the central break of JERA marking the Winter Solstice. The rest of the runes, each lasting for a period of just over a fortnight, can be plotted around these two dates. Notice how the Winter runes – HAGALAZ (hail); NAUTHIZ (need); ISA (ice) and EIHWAZ (yew – an evergreen) crowd around the coldest time of year. The same is true with the other runes: SOWILO (sunshine) and BERKANO (birch-tree) in Spring; GEBO (gift) and WUNJO (joy) at harvest-time. Uncanny, isn't it? We can only hope that seasonal changes due to climate change don't knock these correspondences out of kilter.

Rune Poems and the Esoteric Meaning of the Runes

Our main sources for the esoteric understanding of the Runes are the Anglo-Saxon, Old Norwegian and Old Icelandic Rune poems. The two latter Rune poems are based on the Scandinavian 16-Rune 'Younger Futhark', hence the apparent gaps in the verses. Each of the Rune-poems could be nothing more than mnemonics (“A is for apple” etc.), although that's unlikely, given their consistency, internal logic and spiritual resonance.

Some people interpret the Runes depending on whether the facing Rune is upside down or not, but there is no evidence in the traditional literature that Rune-casters, or 'Erulians', took any notice of the directions of individual staves when casting the Runes. It's most likely an innovation taken from tarot cards, so can be safely ignored. Even worse, some modern Rune-sets include a “blank-rune”, also taken from non-Germanic fortune-telling techniques. This is an abomination, which should be stamped out! The word 'Erulian' is from the Germanic Heruli tribe, who are believed to have spread knowledge of the Runes across Europe and who practiced ritual homosexuality.

There is enough to learn from Runes: times, seasons, and in particular and most interestingly the roots of words (e.g. 'Fee' and 'Feudalism', 'Fee, Fi, Fo, Fum' from FEHU; ur – meaning 'proto' in German, or 'first', from URUZ etc.), and concepts that were important to our ancestors in an agriculturally-based society, without getting into the whole esoteric stuff.

This is how I think the Runes can initially best be used – as a link to understanding the past and a stimulus for the creative imagination – rather than for tawdry magic. At their best they express eternal patterns within the European mind, Jung's archetypes if you will, and should be contemplated poetically.

Ego Death, Destiny and Serpents in Germanic Mythology

These observations of stories from Germanic mythology are written with reference to Michael Hoffman's ENTHEOGEN THEORY OF RELIGION AND EGO DEATH, http://egodeath.com/EntheogenTheoryOfReligion.htm where the snake or serpent is seen as a symbol of the stream of consciousness (“frozen-time determinism” in Hoffman's EGO DEATH language), and also as a pointer to the entheogenic substance aiding that symbolic realization.

According to Hoffman's EGO DEATH site, “Time can be envisioned as a space-like dimension, forming a block universe [a cube] that includes frozen, unchanging, snake-shaped personal worldline threads, each snake or thread representing a person's entire subjective stream of thoughts during their entire life (Ruckner 1984).” In this sense, the snake can be imagined as fulfilling the same function as the threads drawn by the Norns (the three fates/ Weird Sisters) of Northern myth. It is the “Necessity” expressed by the tenth rune, 'Nauthiz'.

There are three stories from Germanic mythology of particular relevance and resonance to the concept of EGO DEATH and the serpent: that of Jormungandr (the World Serpent), Loki's punishment and, above all, Odin's transformation into a snake in order to obtain the Odroerir – the Mead of the Skalds – which he then returns to Asgard.

1. Jormungandr – the World (Midgard) Serpent

Jormungandr is one of the three monster-offspring of Loki and the giantess Angrboda (“the bringer of grief”; their other two offspring being the Frenris wolf and Hel, the goddess representative of the underworld). The first two monsters are essential to the story of the final unfolding of Ragnarok, while Baldr's release from Hel after Ragnarok allows the sun god to rule over a shining new world. The most famous story about Jormungandr is when Thor goes fishing with a giant into the middle of the ocean, in order to catch and kill the earth-girdling snake. His voyage is a failure. He finally succeeds in slaying the Midgard serpent during Ragnarok, but at the cost of his own life.

2. Loki in the Snake-Pit

Loki is punished by the gods (for having brought about the death of Baldr) by being bound to a rock in a cavern. Above him Skadi, the goddess of hunting, has placed a venomous snake, and Loki writhes in agony, causing earthquakes, whenever the poison touches his skin. The parallels with other bound giants in Aryan mythology, notably Prometheus, are striking. Prometheus is another cultural hero and inventor, like Loki. Interestingly in this context, Goethe's Prometheus is made to exclaim to Mercury, “Did they [the divine parents of Prometheus] protect my heart/ From serpents that secretly tormented it!/ Did they steel my breast/ To defy the Titans?/...Was I not forged into a man/ By all-powerful Time/ And eternal Fate,/ My masters and yours?”

3. Odin and Odroerir

In the story of Odin and the winning of the Odroerir, snakes and entheogens are directly linked. According to Edred Thorsson in RUNELORE (Weiser, 1987), “In the guise of Bolverkr (Worker of Evil) and by cunning and oath-breaking, he gains access to the mountain where an etin-wife, Gunnlodh, guards the mead. He bores his way into the mountain in the shape of a serpent [actually the bore-hole is created by the Baugi the giant, Odin merely slips through as a snake] and remains in the interior for three nights, sleeping with the etin, after which he gets to drink down the mead in three gulps from the three vessels – Odhroerir, Son and Bodhn – in which the mead was held. Then he shape-shifts into an eagle and flies out of the top of the mountain and back to Asgardhr, where he spits out the mead into three vats – thus returning the mead to its rightful place among the Aesir and humanity. It is specifically stated that some of the mead dropped to the earth when Odhinn flew away, and this anyone can drink (if she or he happens across it by accident). Thus, it is called the 'fool-poet's share'.
“This myth is vital to runic tradition..It describes the path of becoming, the pathway of transformational Odianism...Here is hidden the significance of the serpentine aspect of the Odhinic cult, well-known from snake-bands on runestones and the famous dragon ships of the Vikings.”

From the traditional literature, the Eddas, we know that Odin uses three paths in his eternal quest for knowledge; insights that he hopes will allow him to defy destiny at Ragnarok. The first leads to his sacrifice on the World Tree and discovery of runes. Along the second he drinks from the Well of Mimir or Urd's Well, for which he pledged one of his eyes, (in the Voluspa, Mimir the Rememberer is said to drink the mead Odroerir from the Well every day). Third, through the mead Odroerir itself, created by the dwarves and won by Odin from the giants, as described by Edred Thorsson in the story above.

“The name Odroerir is sometimes used [in the Eddas and Germanic mythology generally] for the cauldron containing the mead of inspiration and sometimes for the mead itself. It means 'ecstasy-inducing,' or as we might say “ecstatogenic,” with the same word-root as Odin, god of inspiration and ecstasy. Since Odin was also said to drink mead from Odroedir when he came down from the World Tree after discovering the runes, this visionary mead is involved in all three of Odin's paths to knowledge.” - Ralph Metzner, THE WELL OF REMEMBRANCE

As with all myths, these can be interpreted on a number of levels. For instance the Arktion Federation published in its journal an explanation of Jormungandr as being a description of the water cycle. It could equally be the carbon cycle.

The three stories outlined above are amongst the most popular and recurrent motifs in northern pagan art. They are also inextricably bound up with the idea of the fate of the individual and the world.

Terror at the threshold of awareness

As Hoffman mentions in his EGO DEATH article, and as anyone who has experienced salvia divinorum or an LSD bad trip will know, the experience of entheogen-induced awareness of ego-loss and pre-destination can be disconcerting at best, and at worst a shattering of cosmic order from which it appears impossible to recover. At its best, it is humbling and ennobling, but when tainted with either physical or mental impurities it becomes an ordeal ending in a crushing nihilism.

Bad Trips, H.P. Lovecraft

“Saturn, as governor or gatekeeper of the outermost [ancient] planetary sphere which is associated with the sphere of the fixed stars, rides in a serpent-drawn chariot and eats the child or youthful self-concept as the price of passage across the boundary into the transcendent heavens beyond the starry Heimarmene[Fate]-boundary.” - Hoffman, EGO DEATH

“Both ego-less animal existence and man's ego, which is but matrical sensory cognition, originate in the same Matrix of Dream. This must be transcended. It is Polar insight, the inward-looking way that leads out of this cyclic Matrix. However, the man's ego, being the man-god, fears mystical dissolution, because it fears its “death”. Only if “death” is realized as illusion by experiencing it mystically in life, can essencification and spiritual unity be achieved. The ego fears “death” because it does not know that there is none. 'Fear' is the sword the ego wields, yet its iron melts away in the black heat of Wisdom.
“In Lovecraft's stories the elements of decay and death prevail. These are the emotional patterns of one approaching...The transformative Way across the Bridge of Fog, from animal-man to god-man, is painful. Everyone claiming the contrary, is speaking with a Minotaurian voice.
The Way leads through the Tomb of the Individual toward the Emergence of the Entity. The same is applicable to humanity. Saturn is throwing its charnel light toward this planet. But the Pilgrim must know that Saturn is but the Threshold, not the Destination.” W.H. Muller - Polaria p113

The Minotaurian voice that Muller refers to is the voice that asserts the supremacy of the ego. It is the animal-man trapped in the labyrinth of ordinary, uninspired consciousness.

Dialectics, Non-dual Synthesis and Tantra

It is interesting that these processes are always tripartite; EGO DEATH itself is a 3-stage process: ordinary consciousness is expanded by entheogens to an appreciation of frozen-time determinism (block universe) and the hidden transcendent control of thoughts, then to non-dualism: the non-dualism conveyed by Advaita Vedanta in Hinduism, the Diamond Sutra in Buddhism or Meister Eckhart and Georg Hegel in post-Christian Germanic tradition. “3-stage initiation paths centred around determinism are often posed as 2-stage systems: they both endorse and disparage the realization of determinism, which is the intermediate destination on the path to salvific regeneration” - Hoffman.


“...India was to be credited for the the ideal of liberation and the West was to be credited for the ideal of liberty. On the one hand, there is there is the impulse to escape from the human condition in order to become reintegrated in an absolute from which we separated ourselves only to end up in a world of illusion (maya). On the other hand, there is the impulse to feel free in a world that is no longer denied, but that is rather considered as a field for action and for experiencing all of the possibilities inherent in the human condition...In Tantrism we find a very interesting phenomenon; those ascetic techniques that were well-known in India are no longer employed to achieve an otherworldly liberation but in order to achieve liberty within the world. These techniques are supposed to bestow on a superior human type an invulnerability that allows one to be open to every worldly experience and that grants the power 'to transform the poison into medicine'.” - Julius Evola, THE YOGA OF POWER

Evola suggests a possible resolution of the mundane-consciousness belief in free will, and the heightened-consciousness awareness of predestination: through Tantra. Hoffman's “salvific regeneration” could then be understood as the Tantric moment of realization of non-duality; there is no “other” that sets the universe and the individual on a pre-destined course. Odin is still on the road to Ragnarok, Thor is still destined to be overwhelmed by the World Serpent, while Loki is fated to escape his own serpentine tormentor and unleash Ragnarok. But none of these events have yet taken place: the final battle between Odin as questing consciousness and the snake as inexorable fate remains unresolved.

Dr. Tomislav Sunic on Paganism

Can we still conceive of the revival of Pagan sensibility in an age
so profoundly saturated by Judeo-Christian monotheism and so
ardently adhering to the tenets of liberal democracy? In popular
parlance the very word "Paganism" may incite some to derision and
laughter. Who, after all, wants to be associated with witches and
witchcraft, with sorcery and black magic? Worshiping animals or
plants, or chanting hymns to Wotan or Zeus, in an epoch of cable
television and "smart weapons," does not augur well for serious
intellectual and academic inquiry. Yet, before we begin to heap
scorn on Paganism, we should pause for a moment. Paganism is not
just witches and witches' brew; Paganism also means a mix of highly
speculative theories and philosophies. Paganism is Seneca and
Tacitus; it is an artistic and cultural movement that swept over
Italy under the banner of the Renaissance. Paganism also means
Friedrich Nietzsche, Martin Heidegger, Charles Darwin, and a host of
other thinkers associated with the Western cultural heritage. Two
thousand years of Judeo-Christianity have not obscured the fact that
Pagan thought has not yet disappeared, even though it has often been
blurred, stifled, or persecuted by monotheistic religions and their
secular offshoots...Abraham and Moses may be dethroned today, but
their moral edicts and spiritual ordinances are much alive. The
global and disenchanted world, accompanied by the litany of human
rights, ecumenical society, and the rule of law ---- are these not
principles that can be traced directly to the Judeo-Christian
messianism that resurfaces today in its secular version under the
elegant garb of modern "progressive" ideologies?

And yet, we should not forget that the Western world did not begin
with the birth of Christ. Neither did the religions of ancient
Europeans see the first light of the day with Moses-in the desert.
Nor did our much-vaunted democracy begin with the period of
Enlightenment or with the proclamation of American independence.
Democracy and independence-all of this existed in ancient Greece,
albeit in its own unique social and religious context. Our Greco-
Roman ancestors, our predecessors who roamed the woods of central
and northern Europe, also believed in honor, justice, and virtue,
although they attached to these notions a radically different
meaning...

Who knows, with the death of communism, with the exhaustion of
liberalism, with the visible depletion of the congregations in
churches and synagogues, we may be witnessing the dawn of
neopaganism, a new blossoming of old cultures, a return to the roots
that are directly tied to our ancient European precursors. Who can
dispute the fact that Athens was the homeland of Europeans before
Jerusalem became their frequently painful edifice?

Great lamenting is heard from all quarters of our disenchanted and
barren world today. Gods seem to have departed, as Nietzsche
predicted a century ago, ideologies are dead, and liberalism hardly
seems capable of providing man with enduring spiritual support.
Maybe the time has come to search for other paradigms? Perhaps the
moment is ripe, as Alain Benoist would argue, to envision another
cultural and spiritual revolution-a revolution that might well
embody our pre-Christian European Pagan heritage?

666 Sucking on Satan’s Teat

(with apologies to Harlan Ellison)

June 6 2006 (06.06.06.) marked the end of the morbid Judeo-Christian desire to bring on the end of the world (ver-old – the age of man – in this context Nordic/ Aryan man).

This cursed number from the garbage-strewn Revelation of St. John has long fascinated adherents of the death-cults of the Middle East, but we inhabitants of Middle Earth (Midgard) have good reason to rejoice at messages and events that transpired on that date.

On the evening of Tuesday June 6 Newsnight (22:30, BBC2) reported two significant “turning points” for the attempted Bush/ Blair New World Order take-over. The first was the final, devastating exposure of the American policy of “Rendition”; that spider’s web of democratically-inspired torture stretching from the American homeland to western and eastern Europe to Iraq, Afghanistan and all points south-east – the direction of Ironwood and the land of the ogres.

The second about-turn involved Tony Blair’s final loss of credibility amongst his own die-hard NuLab supporters, long after the British public as a whole had woken up to the reality of the notorious “satanic eyes” Tory election poster of Blair during the 1997 plebiscite. Blair has been left isolated and exposed on his own island of despondency, LOST to deal with the invisible monsters about to club him over his head and drag him away.

Nothing in history comes to an end abruptly, in the blink of an eye, so the Atlanticist Capitalists struggled on that same evening with a grim documentary (21:00, BBC2) about global warming and climate catastrophe, idly assuming that Big Business will carry on as usual: typhoons blasting Shanghai, hurricanes in the Caribbean, deadly heat-waves in Paris, submerged idyllic South Seas atolls and a future London inundated within a decade via the triple-threat of rising sea-levels, tidal surges and increased rainfall carried southward from the source of Old Father Thames. Just as J.G. Ballard predicted in his brilliant and prescient DROWNED WORLD (1961). Immediately afterward (22:00) Channel 4 served up the latest episode of meaningless, brutal violence appropriately called LOST, all the time interspersed with adverts for the latest cars, exotic holidays and all the other latest consumerist capitalist trinkets and baubles. BBC2 continued the gloomy theme of the evening (23:20) with a snobbish documentary about English soccer hooligans (which up until the time of writing this we have been excused from the current World Cup in Germany – in fact quite the opposite. English supporters have been praised by the German authorities as amongst the best in the World Cup).

Finally, at the 25-minute count-down to the end of this supposedly ominous day, Channel 4 transmitted a flashy, incoherent documentary about the gruesome fates that befell the cast and crew and others involved in the first production of THE OMEN (1976): a double lightning-strike on planes initially carrying producers of the movie from Los Angeles to London and co-incidental plane crashes, Lee Remick’s near-fatal accident falling off a balcony, a similar fate suffered by one of the stuntmen a year later, mad rottweillers and baboons, an IRA bomb at the hotel of the production staff, and most horrifically of all the decapitation of one of the extras by a tiger.

All these bizarre if directly unconnected events were ascribed to being the work of the Xian Devil – but the logic hardly stands up. Why would the Prince of Darkness do his best to thwart the production of a tacky, vacuous Hollywood movie celebrating his power, glory and immanent return?

Far more likely, if indeed supernatural intervention was undermining the production of THE OMEN, is supernatural intervention from the Old Gods, the Aryan Pantheon having a bit of fun with those promoting the insulting Middle Eastern death-cults. Many of the unnatural events bear the stamp of Loki the Trickster God, having a laugh at the expense of Judeo-Christian dupes.

And here lies the true significance of June 6 2006; that it had no significance. No re-apperance from Satan, or indeed his opposite. No apocalyptic scenario.

The only news, as reported on Newsnight, was good news. Another two nails in the coffin for the dying Bush/ Blair fundamentalist Xian agenda.

With their delusional fantasies blown away, the true vision for the way forward is increasingly clear: the hope and glory offered by the European New Right and Aryan Futurism.

Race and Consciousness

Our consciousness is mediated by our race and culture, just as white light changed into colour by going through a prism. The light is still light, but it has undergone a literally indescribable transformation (remember, our experience of colour is a uniquely subjective experience, despite understanding in theory about wavelength and even quantum mechanics).

Aryan metaphysics is non-dualist, everything is consciousness, yet that consciousness is rarely encountered by us in its pure white form – the light before it enters the prism. Maybe some have encountered it; Meister Eckhart, Theresa of Avila, Wordsworth and Shelley. Instead, what we see in and around us is consciousness coloured by a myriad different factors: generation of birth, sex, class, race, religion, and of course most dramatically of all by species...or mode of existence for inanimate objects.
