To Infinity...and Beyond II

Our race, culture and vision of limitless expansion in space and time has no future under the current global materialist status quo. Indeed, with inertia and the continuance of business-as-usual, the survival of the whole human race and other species is moot. If one day our descendants are reaching into inter-galactic space – then it is US that they will remember, and thank for our perseverance and loyalty to a higher order. It is US who are living at the critical junction in history, with unparalleled consequences for the Aryan race and the planet more generally. It is within our lifetimes that the fate of the planet for possibly millions of years will be decided.

We must view our destiny clearly. Whether we face a future amongst the stars, or final annihilation and extinction, the end of the experiment of advancing intellect and spirituality across the cosmos, is a decision for our current generation.

The urge towards further space exploration is an essential quality of the Aryan psyche, as recognized by Norman Lowell amongst others. It is fundamental to Aryan Futurist ideology; an ideology that will spread through successful propaganda.

To Infinity...and Beyond

Britain's dour new premier Gordon Brown is being urged by his own government scientific advisers to increase Britain's commitment to space exploration.
BBC Newsnight

This excerpt from Perry Rhodan #4 INVASION FROM SPACE neatly sums up the economic argument:

The President of the Asiatic Federation leaned forward. “What project are you referring to?” he inquired eagerly.
Perry Rhodan smiled. “A space fleet. Our planet must have a space fleet!”
“What for?”
“There are many reasons, Mr. President. One of these is purely economic. It is no longer a secret that war and rearmament used to be part of the economic welfare of a state. This may sound rather cynical, but is nevertheless a sober fact. We must therefore proceed according to this well proved principle. With this exception, though – our efforts will no more serve to manufacture arms for war, but we will have a new goal, to build a space fleet. This will bring about an economic boom for all nations on Earth. New industries will arise, every able person will find work. We will stamp factories and huge industrial enterprises out of the ground. We will find new methods of producing new materials and manufacturing thus far unknown machines.
“I have spoken about the purely economic aspect and the tremendous advantages for all of mankind. But there is also a military reason for having a space fleet.”

Report: New Right 11th London Meeting

First up was Mr Christopher Chibnall with a fascinating anecdotal talk on the artist and magician Austin Osman Spare, billed as the first postmodern occultist. When I worked at Watkin's occult bookshop off the Charing Cross Road, we kept our Osman Spare in a lock-up glass bookshelf in the basement. Mainly because of their value, but partly also for their content (not that we'd get many kids in the basement, which was devoted mainly to books about Advaita Vedanta Hinduism; kids naturally preferred gawking at the crystals, jewellery, statues and other New Age trinkets on sale upstairs). I'd like to thank Mr Chibnall for elucidating the ideas of this singular individual, who was a fellow south Londoner and instigator of his own Chaos Magic. Mr Chibnall is working on a book about Austin Osman Spare, although I'm surprised that he hasn't already been beaten to it by Peter Ackroyd; this mixture of London, the occult, raw sexuality and consciousness is quintessential Ackroyd territory.

Next up came Norman Lowell from the highly successful IMPERIUM EUROPA movement in Malta. At his last talk at a London New Right meeting a couple of years ago Mr Lowell outlined the spiritual and practical delineations of the coming Imperium; this time he introduced a new element to his thinking, namely Dominion. Just as, like Evola, Lowell associates the ideas of a Solar/Polar Imperium with Masculinity, so Dominion (from Latin “domus” - “home”) is associated with the regional and local, that is, the Feminine, nurturing principle. This concept adds a whole new dimension to the idea of Imperium. As I listened to Mr Lowell I was struck by the thought that I could be hearing for the first time an idea as profound, significant and influential as that proposed by Nietzsche in THE BIRTH OF TRAGEDY. Mr Lowell has a new book out, aptly titled IMPERIUM EUROPA, this Winter 2007. It's worth putting an order in now because his last book, CREDO, is now a sought-after item, with people emailing to ask me where they can get a copy. Mr Lowell also expanded on his exciting idea of reserving a special space in Russia for eugenic progress, and stressed the importance of Aryan solidarity and the avoidance of fratricidal wars.

Following Mr Lowell came Mr Jonathan Bowden. I always strongly look forward to Mr Bowden's talks; he outlines often complex ideas with astounding lucidity and precision, introducing new facts and new ideas from sometimes obscure thinkers with great flourish. Mr. Bowden surveyed a wide panorama, from the power of intellect, to the commercial elite ruling over us and the insidious culture of victimology. Gay activists in particular have much to learn from his arguments against special pleading. Since I am not a member of the BNP, I am hardly in a position to comment on Mr Bowden's recent run-in with the BNP leadership, save to say that in my opinion the party has lost an immensely accomplished and invigorating speaker.

Finally, from Croatia, Mr Tomislav Sunic, to elaborate on some of his ideas presented in his excellent new book HOMO AMERICANUS: Child of the Postmodern Age. I finished reading this important book about America's foundational myths and their reverberations into the present just last week, and hope to do it some justice by giving it a proper review on this (Aryan Futurism) blog in the near future. As well as discussing the heroic Prince Eugene, the self-censoring society and martyrology, Mr Sunic urged his listeners to look behind the human rights rhetoric of our democratic leaders, and suggested that a read of a country's penal codes could be far more revealing.

As ever, the meeting was at a superb location in central London with a lively, positive, friendly audience – the largest I've seen at a New Right meeting to date. Between speakers, the crowd was abuzz with subjects ranging from the ongoing credit-crunch financial crisis (hardly surprising, given our location in the heart of the Leviathan) to Michael Wood's current colourful documentary series on BBC2 TV about the history of India, which certainly seems to be a hit with European Identitarians. Troy Southgate, Jonathan Bowden, Jonothon Boulter and all the other organizers and helpers at the London New Right meetings deserve praise for opening up this immensely important new intellectual space, the suitably impressive London salon and ante-chamber for the IMPERIUM, and congratulations for enabling this new space to expand, all the while winning fresh support and acclaim. It is a tremendous undertaking triumphantly fulfilled.

Fascism and the Meaning of Life

Review: MODERNISM AND FASCISM: The Sense of a Beginning under Mussolini and Hitler. Roger Griffin (Palgrave Macmillan, Basingstoke 2007)

Roger Griffin, Professor in Modern History at Oxford Brookes University, first introduced the idea of 'Palingenesis' to the field of fascist studies over 15 years ago, making him immediately a leading figure in his chosen vocation. He isolated the syncretic fascist core as being palingenetic, populist ultra-nationalism, with overtones of a phoenix-like heroic rebirth. Since then he has extended and elaborated his theory that essential to the definition of the 'fascist minimum' is the notion of national rebirth or renaissance - “myths that generated policies and actions designed to bring about collective redemption, a new national community, a new society, a new man...engineered through the power of the modern state.” - culminating in this masterwork which rightly places fascism at the centre of wider modernist movements.

Epiphanic versus Programmatic Modernism

Griffin's insights have previously been recognized as audacious and perceptive, no more so than here. Part One of the book tackles the at first seemingly tricky concept of Modernism itself, which Griffin clarifies brilliantly. Modernism's “common denominator lies in the bid to achieve a sense of transcendent value, meaning of purpose despite Western culture's progressive loss of a homogeneous value system and overarching cosmology (nomos) caused by the secularizing and disembedding forces of modernization.” Modernization is experienced by those caught up in its slipstream as a relentless juggernaut unzipping the fabric of meaningful existence and leaving in its wake the abyss of permanently unresolved ambivalence. In short, Modernism is defined as a reaction against the decadent* nihilism of intellectual, societal and technical modernization. While Marx, other Leftists and liberals consider modern man's condition as one of angst and alienation induced by class warfare and industrial production, the Right sees anomie as both the cause and the principle symptom of our modern malaise. “It is the black hole of existential self-awareness in all of us, our fear of 'the eternal silence of infinite spaces' that so alarmed [Blaise] Pascal, which produces culture”. This modern culture is further divided by Griffin into what might be called introvert and extrovert reactions: the introvert reaction is generally individualistic and in Griffin's expression an 'epiphanic modernism' – the path of the artist – while the extrovert, collective reaction is defined as 'programmatic modernism'. The latter seeks to change the world and resolve the permanent crisis of modernity (“all that is solid melts into air” - Marx) by a collective act of 'reconnection forwards' (Moeller van den Bruck). It is not difficult to make the short step from 'programmatic modernism' to fascism; the transcendent politics proposed by van den Bruck at the beginning of the Twentieth Century are not so different from Guillaume Faye's 'Archaic Futurism' at its end. Both are, in the phrase of Guy Debord, “technically equipped archaism”.

Amongst the epiphanic modernists Griffin includes Nietzsche, Eliot, Joyce, Proust, van Gogh, Kandinsky and Malevich, but perhaps the truth of Griffin's argument is demonstrated by the man widely-acknowledged as the greatest modern painter: Picasso. In his earlier cubist works, Picasso sought inspiration from the primitivism of African masks, and later in the archetypal Mediterranean symbols of horses and particularly bulls (which surprisingly Griffin doesn't mention).

Gardening State

Following the exhaustive and enlightening dissection of modernism in Part One, Griffin explores the implications and applied politics in Part Two, where “modernity turbocharged by the conjuncture of the First World War, the Russian Revolution, the collapse of three absolutist regimes and a powerful monarchy, with an influenza epidemic that killed as many as 100 million people world wide had made the modernist drive to ward off the terror of the void – cultural, social and political – a phenomenon of mass culture. The new era would be a creatio ex profundis, an act of creativity defying the void.” Fascism aimed for a complete overhaul, in accordance with Emilio Gentile's observation of totalitarianism as “an experiment in political domination undertaken by a revolutionary movement.” Griffin introduces the idea of the pre-War Fascist and National Socialist regimes as 'gardening states' striking a successful balance between idyllic ruralism and technocratic modernism, the “compelling new imperative” that it obeyed “to clean up, to sterilize, to re-order, to eliminate dirt and dust” (Frances Saunders). Or neatly, if flippantly, summed up by Lars Lindholm, “For example, the Aryans (i.e. Germans, the blond and blue-eyed) are direct descendants from the Atlantean root-race, whereas the Jews, Negroes, Slavs, and anyone else for that matter, are unfortunate mutants, further away from Homo sapiens than the snottiest gorilla. The reason for all the troubles in this world is the presence of these unsavoury species that the master race should mercifully do away with so that peace and quiet could be restored and life imbued with a bit of style.” PILGRIMS OF THE NIGHT: Pathfinders of the Magical Way (Llewellyn, St. Paul MN, 1993). It was this same vision of hygienic modernity which inspired the building in London of bright new health centres in Peckham and Finsbury during the 1930s. But mild English pragmatism was no match for German determination, where public buildings were “an act of sacralization symbolized in the toned bodies of Aryan workers showering in the washrooms of newly built hygienic factories or playing football on a KdF sportsground, their camaraderie and zest for life expressing the hope for a young, healthy nation.”

Fascist aesthetics

Included in the book are illustrations of art and architecture not usually associated with the pre-War Fascist and National Socialist regimes: from the soaring arch designed by Adalberto Libera for the aborted EUR '42 exhibition in Rome (later ripped-off by Eero Saarinen for the St. Louis Gateway Arch), to the cool steel and glass structure designed by Morpugo encasing the Ara Pacis of Augustus, the 1933 blueprint for the new Reichsbank in Berlin by Gropius, or Baron Julius Evola's painterly experimentations with Dadaism. Goebbels is revealed as a fan of Edvard Munch and Fritz Lang, while Le Corbusier submitted plans for the new town of Pontinia in the recently-reclaimed Pontine Marshes. Fritz Todt celebrated Aryan technocratic power in his construction of autobahns and later the Atlantic Wall. Irene Guenther is quoted extolling 'Nazi Chic' with fashion displaying “another countenance, one that was intensely modern, technologically advanced, supremely stylized and fashionably stylish” and the Bauhaus influence on the new, burgeoning market in consumer durables is emphasised. Unlike previous historians of fascism with their simplistic and inflexible frameworks, Griffin admirably demonstrates that “fascism, despite the connotations of regression, reaction and flight from modernity it retains for some academics, is to be regarded as an outstanding form of political modernism”, encapsulating a “deadly serious attempt to realize an alternative logic, an alternative modernity and an alternative morality to those pursued by liberalism, socialism or conservatism”.

Ambition

Griffin is well aware of the boldness and ambition of his arguments. “Post-modern” academia is notoriously hostile to transdisciplinarity and historians today are loath to erect grand structures of interpretation and meaning. Few historians are less fashionable than Oswald Spengler, or even Samuel 'Clash of Civilizations' Huntington. Griffin is well aware of this problem, and in the introduction he specifically places MODERNISM AND FASCISM within the context of 'Aufbruch' (a breaking out of conventions). For this reason Griffin's style is reflexive: he is conscious of the fact that in proposing a new syncretic historical worldview he is in some ways mirroring the dynamics of fascism itself. Of course, European Identitarians and New Rightists will have no problem with the concept of evolutionary synthesis (it's no accident that one of the principal English-language New Right websites is called Synthesis), nevertheless Griffin is correctly keen to show and stress that his work is non-totalizing. Overall his style is extremely lucid and arguments that may appear at first to be mere flights of fancy are revealed as having firm foundations, unlike the convoluted, almost impenetrable and until recently-fashionable critical theory style of, say, Andrew Hewitt's POLITICAL INVERSIONS: Homosexuality, Fascism and the Modernist Imaginary (1996) or the late Lacoue-Labarthe's HEIDEGGER, ART AND POLITICS (1990).

The sky is falling on our heads

At the end of his book, Griffin draws attention to a BBC News report from September 1998. “The sky is falling” it announces dramatically (shades of Asterix and Obelix here) “The height of the sky has dropped by 8km in the last 38 years, according to scientists from the British Antarctic Survey. Greenhouse gasses like carbon dioxide are believed to be responsible for creating the effect.” He goes on to speculate, “Had Nietzsche been philosophizing at the beginning of the twenty-first century instead of the end of the nineteenth, amidst Swiss glaciers shrivelling under skies where the abstract art of vapour trails punctures illusions of transcending Good and Evil, maybe he would have 'rethought all his ideas' in a different, greener 'framework'. Instead of railing against the advent of 'nihilism', 'decadence' and 'the last man', he might have realized that the time for any sort of 'eternal return' is rapidly running out in a literal, not symbolic sense.” In the intervening 9 years since that ominous BBC report, our carbon emissions have escalated tremendously while our climate has deteriorated further, thanks to global capitalism, free market economics, liberalism, population increase, mass migration across borders and above all the profound weakness and myopia in confronting the issue which is inherent to liberal democracies. We need to get a grip.

*not the frivolous, glamourized Sally Bowles Weimar “decadence” that the word conjures up in the minds of many gay men, but rather the very real awareness of decay; that all our greatest achievements as a civilization – the Renaissance, the Age of Discovery, the Moonshots – are behind us.

The Play of Aryan Archetypes in Space 1999

Although Aryan themes abound in science fiction comics, books, TV and films, I will concentrate on those that run like a thread through the 1970s British TV series Space 1999.

Gerry Anderson's mid-70s live-action series starts with the Moon being blasted out of Earth's orbit after the catastrophic explosion of a lunar nuclear waste dump, and the rest of the series follows the adventures of the Alphans – inhabitants of Earth's only lunar colony, Moonbase Alpha – as they hurtle through the cosmos at unlikely speed. The initial premise of the Moon leaving Earth's orbit is an interesting reversal of Hans Hörbiger's Welteislehre: the scientific theory, popular in 1930s Germany, which proposed a succession of ice-formed moons sequentially crashing to Earth. The popularity of this theory can be explained in part by its similarity to ancient Germanic mythological concepts of the creation of the cosmos from the dynamic interaction between fire and ice, and therefore appealed directly to northern European race-consciousness.

Anderson's Space 1999 lasted for just two series, with the first judged generally far better - and more metaphysical – than the second. The latter series suffered the misfortune of being produced by Fred Freiberger, who had previously ruined the third series of Star Trek. All episodes mentioned below (Episode 3. Black Sun; Episode 14. Death's Other Dominion; Episode 16. End of Eternity; Episode 22. Mission of the Darians; Episode 24. The Testament of Arkadia) are from the first series.

In addition to these specific episodes, Space 1999 retained an identifiably British occult sensibility in other episodes by starring Hammer Horror stalwarts Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, and with stories by Irish author Johnny Byrne, who has expressed his interest in Celtic mythology.

Black Sun

The most interesting feature of this early episode is the title itself, which has a long history in Aryan esotericism. Already by 1974, when this episode was shot, the commonly accepted designation for the interstellar gravity-pit that captures the Moon and its crew of Alphans was a “black hole”. The Alphans avoid their expected disintegration and annihilation on encountering this particular Black Sun, and instead undergo an enlightening mystical experience.

Death's Other Dominion

As the Moon drifts past the ice-blue planet of Ultima Thule, Commander Koenig decides to send an expedition to the surface. On landing the Alphans almost perish in a frozen wasteland, until rescued by a typically bombastic Brian Blessed. Blessed's band of rugged Thulians (formerly earthmen and women) have discovered the secret of immortality. Blessed offers the Alphans everlasting life in his “We shall be as gods of the universe...” speech, but the Alphans conclude that the price demanded is too high. In a previous scene they have been tipped off to the lurking danger by the trickster archetype in the form of a transposed medieval court jester. The episode was directed by veteran British director Charles Crichton, who was also responsible for editing H.G. Wells' 1936 classic Things to Come and directing a few of the post-war Ealing comedies. Ultima Thule in European mythology is the sacred land at or near the North Pole and an original Aryan homeland. Blessed's immortal followers, although they have access to the highest technologies, still dress in fur-skins.

End of Eternity

In this episode the Alphans rescue the oversized alien prisoner Balor from a sealed cave hidden deep within a passing comet. The inside of cave is painted with the grotesque scenes of horror and destruction that Balor had unleashed on his home-planet, a fate that awaits the Alphans should they be unable to return Balor to his entombment. Apart from the obvious reference to Balor of the Evil Eye from Irish mythology (the story was written by Johnny Byrne), the character can also be seen as a reference to other bound-giants of Aryan mythology, notably Prometheus and Loki. Like the culture-heroes Loki and Prometheus, the alien prisoner is portrayed as a catalyst to dramatic evolutionary change, and is punished for his efforts.

Mission of the Darians

The Darians (named from the Ancient Greek tribe of Dorians, and perhaps more remotely from the divine Celtic tribe of Tuatha Dé Danann) inhabit a generational galactic starship which had suffered a nuclear disaster some 900 years before the arrival of the Alphans. Led by the regal Joan Collins (who memorably guest-starred in such Sixties TV science fiction classics as Batman opposite Adam West and Star Trek: City on the Edge of Forever) the chiton-clad Darians' ignoble mission is to survive as best they can by harvesting the organs and otherwise exploiting the less fortunate members of the crew who were previously abandoned in the contaminated regions of the vast ship. This is a basic re-telling of the modern European Industrial myth of the bifurcation of society into haves and have-nots; first posited as science fiction by H.G. Wells in The Time Machine (Morlocks and Eloi) and first filmed by Fritz Lang in Metropolis. The story was again written by Johnny Byrne, who also wrote the final episode of the first series, The Testament of Arkadia.

The Testament of Arkadia

This, the final episode of the first series, is the most explicit and influential of all the mythologically-driven plots; drawing on contemporary “ancient astronaut” von Däniken theories of the first impulse to civilization and older, Theosophical notions of the origins of mankind.

The lead character, Luke, played by Italian actor Orso Maria Guerrini, resembles Freddie Mercury during his 80s clone incarnation, complete with convincing clone moustache. It was no accident that he was chosen for his Indo-Iranian/ Persian good looks (“Testament Of Arcadia still generated a spiritual frisson when I last saw it - though at that time money was tight and we were lumbered with Italian leading men who could hardly speak a word of English.” - Johnny Byrne).

The Alphans use their Eagle spaceships to land on the apparently-dead world of Arkadia, which at first sight resembles a desolate WWI battlescape. Luke (from the Proto-Indo-European root word light: *leuk) stumbles into a skeleton-strewn cave and discovers a tablet with writing engraved into the wall. That this significant discovery is made in a cave is also no accident: the supreme act of the apotheosis of the Persian god Mithras, the sacred taurobolium – slaying of the bull – is performed in a cave. “The cave in which the 'bull' seeks refuge at the end of its run, corresponds to the alchemical 'cave of mercury' which is often associated with the subtle centre of the body located at the base of the spine, which the Hindu call muladhara; the Hindus relate it to the tattva [roughly: Truth] of the earth.” The Path of Enlightenment in the Mithraic Mysteries – Julius Evola

The engraved writing is in Sanskrit, and tells of how all life came to an end on the planet 25,000 years previously in “the light of a thousand suns” - an obvious reference to the quote from the Bhagavad Gita, famously recalled by J. Robert Oppenheimer on witnessing the Trinity first nuclear test explosion.

Luke and his female Alphan companion Anna read about how a few of the Arkadians managed to escape the catastrophe and establish their culture on a new planet – Earth. Luke and Anna come to understand, via some psychic Arkadian device, that their destiny is to bring life back to Arkadia, thus fulfilling a pre-ordained circuit in space and time. Their conversation is sprinkled with references to Providence - “when the lines of destiny meet” - and allusions to “going home”; realizations of the nature of fate which put them at odds with their “non-initiated” Alphan companions.

The name Arkadia/ Arcadia itself has huge resonance: named by the Pelasgians for the most favoured region in Ancient Greece and referenced in the Poussin painting that helped kick-off the whole Holy Blood, Holy Grail/ da Vinci Code phenomenon.

“The name 'Arcadia', written alternatively with 'k', is derived from the Sanskrit word arka respectively, the stem 'ar(k)', containing the mystical 'ra' symbolizing cyclic return. Its derivations prove to be a repository of Polar lore.
“The word arka means 'ray' or 'flash'. Both arka-tanaya or arka-nandana are translated 'Saturn'. Derived from arka, arcat means 'shining' and is one with the word catar or Cathar, explained previously. From arcat 'Arcadia' is derived. The Land of the Living is the Shining Realm or the Luminous Land of the Spirit-Light. The word arka-mandala has the meaning of 'disc of the sun', exoterically depicting the luminary in the solar system, esoterically applying to the Black Sun that shines above the Midnight Mountain.” Polaria: The Gift of the White Stone. W.H. Müller (Albuquerque, 1996).

Homo Economicus

“The nearest buildings were almost two miles away, and formed a low belt completely surrounding the Park. Beyond them, rank after rank in ascending height, were the towers and terraces that made up the main bulk of the city. They stretched for mile upon mile, slowly climbing up the sky, becoming ever more complex and monumentally impressive. Diaspar had been planned as an entity; it was a single mighty machine. Yet though its outward appearance was almost overwhelming in its complexity, it merely hinted at the hidden marvels of technology without which all these great buildings would be lifeless sepulchres.” - THE CITY AND THE STARS. Arthur C. Clarke (1956)

Wealth has concentrated in the hands of the very few, but I reckon that Marx's explanation is only a part of the story, and I don't believe in the inevitability of class war; there are other forces at work in addition:

Wealth trajectory westward

“Brooks Adams also noted that centralized capital (the accumulation of wealth in the hands of a few inter-related families) seems to have been moving steadily West throughout recorded history. The first major accumulations are to be found in Sumer; the center of money-power then shifted to Egypt, to Greece, to the Italian peninsula, to various parts of Germany, and then to London. At the time Brooks Adams was writing (c.1900) he saw the balance teetering between London and New York, and he predicted that the decline of the English Empire would shift the balance to New York within the first half of the 20th Century. Brooks Adams had no theory as to why this Westward movement of wealth had been going on for 6000 years. He merely observed the pattern.
“The shift is still continuing, in the opinion of many. For instance, Carl Oglesby in The Cowboy vs. Yankee War, sees American politics since 1950 dominated by a struggle between 'old Yankee wealth' (the New York-Boston axis, which replaced London after 1900) and 'new cowboy wealth' (Texas-California oil-and-aerospace billionaires).” - PROMETHEUS RISING. Robert Anton Wilson (1983).

Since the 80s, Wilson and others have argued that the concentration of wealth has continued it's westward journey, crossing the Pacific to Japan and China but at the same time apparently vanishing into cyberspace.

Corporatism and Distributism

Both these theories emerged in the late Nineteenth Century as the Catholic Church's response to socialism, and I agree that both are superior (fairer and more efficient) than liberal capitalism.

Corporatism can vary from the very mild, e.g. Britain's Labour government in the late 1970s, to the idealistic full-blooded variety espoused by Alexander Raven Thomson.

“No greater mistake can be made than to regard the Corporate State as a mere mechanism of administration.
“On the contrary, it is the organic form through which the nation can find expression. Fascism is no material creed like Communism, which sets up, as its only purpose, the material benefit of the masses. Fascism is essentially idealistic, and refuses any such limitation. Fascism recognises the nation as an organism with a purpose, a life and means of action transcending those of the individuals of which it is composed.
“...it is only through co-operation with others in the organic purpose of the State that the individual can attain his highest potentiality. There is no need for any conflict between the individual and the State as neither can exist without the other. An individual exiled from the civilised communion must inevitably relapse into savagery: a State deprived of loyal co-operation with its citizens must inevitably collapse into barbarism.” - THE COMING CORPORATE STATE. Alexander Raven Thomson (1936)

Raven Thomson is describing a State with a Will. I believe that Will must be directed toward the conquest of space. All other considerations are secondary.

Automation

Growing up as a small boy in the Sixties, I vividly remember the excitement of the space race. I also remember the promise of greater automation, which would free our people from a life of drudgery and instead allow us to pursue our dreams. Like many other ideas from that scintillating decade the vision faded. It's true that less people now are involved in manufacturing – actually producing things – and the greater part of the workforce are employed in “services”, overwhelmingly financial services. We have swapped the workbench for the hot desk and office cubicle.

To my mind this is not an improvement, and I wondered who was to blame. I came to the conclusion that capitalism is essentially a control mechanism of the crudest kind; it pits each of us against all others (“the war of all against all”) in an apparent battle for survival that guarantees the preservation of an unchanging parasitical elite.

I am not an economist, which I reckon is a positive advantage because I don't accept the rules (e.g. supply and demand) upon which modern economics is based. Human behaviour is in the final analysis beyond reason and trying to make a science out of it is futile.

Also, the New Right encompasses a wide variety of economic models, from Norman Lowell's Might is Right Social Darwinism to Troy Southgate's devolved National Anarchism, so my views are not representative although they are close to Mosley's BUF policies in the 1930s. The reason why the New Right is able to hold such contradictory economic policies is because ideologically economics occupies a rather lowly rung. In Georges Dumezil's tri-partite theory of Aryan civilization, economics is “third function” (almost a natural process); whereas real politics is confined to first and second functions only.

My own economic ideas are driven by three major concerns: the necessity to maintain a technological civilization and expand into space, environmental pollution, and the general welfare of all our people in order that they can contribute fully to the Imperium. In all this it differs drastically with Marxism.

In regard to pollution/ climate change etc. I believe the best solution is along the lines of Paolo Soleri's Arcologies, where our industrial/ technological activity is effectively sealed off from the rest of the planet. These Arcologies would be very high density and imply the possibility of communal living; barracks, canteens – a bit like WW2 underground military bases – but not so gloomy. We would make huge economies of scale, and at the same time cut transport costs to virtually nil. For the few that want to try communal, organic communities, there's the land around the Arcologies to use, otherwise it will be allowed to revert to wilderness. All food for the Arcology would be produced in factories in the Arcology, and as a technological civilization (in contrast to that envisaged by Blood & Soil/ back-to-the-land enthusiasts) we would be able to defend ourselves against invasion.

It's bonkers to assume that all this can come about through the free market, let alone space exploration which has always demanded massive state funding, so I concluded that a self-sufficient planned economy is best. This command economy would have to embrace to whole of Europe, Russia and Siberia (at least) above all for racial/cultural reasons, but also because it is of sufficient extent, and with sufficient resources, to guarantee autarky.

“Men had built cities before, but never a city such as this. Some had lasted for centuries, some for millennia, before Time had swept away even their names. Diaspar alone had challenged Eternity, defending itself and all it sheltered against the slow attrition of the ages, the ravages of decay, and the corruption of rust.”

Global Warming: The Armageddon Option II

Confirmation that the scientific speculation in the essay below is sound:
www.sciencenews.org

SUDDEN CHILL
Even a limited nuclear exchange could trigger a climate catastrophe

"In the 1980s, scientists estimated that a war in which each superpower used half its nuclear arsenal would have destroyed the upper atmosphere's ozone layer and, by filling the skies with dust and smoke, decreased temperatures at ground level in some regions as much as 40°C for up to a decade. Scientists and antinuclear advocates dubbed this chilling result nuclear winter."

Global Warming: The Armageddon Option

Once again I was left with a profound sense of despair after watching another report about climate change and global warming (David Attenborough, BBC4 Saturday).

Of course, there is one way to solve the problem immediately: a devastating NUCLEAR ATTACK on ALL centres of POPULATION/ INDUSTRY, worldwide. Does anyone else think that the Global Elite (however you define them) may already have something like this in mind? After all, they are the ones in a position to create bolt-holes for themselves and their families, in the mountains maybe, with supplies of food, technology and ammunition to last centuries.

Such a scenario would be horrendous for us, but would the decades of nuclear fall-out be any worse than the thousands (possibly millions) of years of climate super-heating that we are on course for creating by carrying on with business-as-usual over the next few years?

The onset of Nuclear Winter (Fimbulwinter in Germanic mythology) following such a nuclear armageddon would easily be enough to reverse global warming, and afterwards there would be virtually no-one left to re-start a polluting, industrial civilization. The Elite wouldn't need that anyway as they already have everything they want for their luxurious lifestyles. They could easily crush any promising post-apocalyptic civilization. Meanwhile the most environmentally-threatened areas of the planet (e.g. the Arctic, the Amazon) would be reprieved.

All the evidence suggests that global consumer capitalism and western liberal democracy are not up to the challenge facing us now. Bush, Brown, Blair and the rest are still apparently devoted to economic growth and more material choice, as are the vast majority of the rest of us in the west.

The only hope for us ordinary mortals in Europe is a radical rejection of the status quo, and its replacement with limits and rationing; a socialist, command economy and above all a rediscovery of the eternal Spirit of Europe and European elan. In short, the ideology of Aryan Futurism and the European New Right. A hundred years ago Georges Sorel identified the importance of myth in motivating the masses; what better myth is there for us than the true story of Aryan survival, evolution, ingenuity and advancement? Other races/cultures (notably China) have their own myths to draw on.

As anyone who has read my Aryan Futurism manifesto will know, I am not anti-technology (quite the opposite, I believe our destiny is amongst the stars), but such a happy prospect is impossible while we continue to be seduced by the tawdry baubles of consumerism, and blinded or indifferent to the consequences.

Aryan Futurism: The Vision

This is the text of my ARYAN FUTURISM speech, delivered to the New Right meeting in central London on 28 May 2005.

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. It’s a great, hot, sunny afternoon, which means it’s clear, and when it’s clear we can see further. So I want to see how far we can see. First I’ll talk about where we could be, what it will look like, why Aryan, why Futurist, and why Imperium - and then I’ll discuss how we could get there: how to re-align folk away from the current corrosive human rights agenda and towards European nationalism and growth.

First – a journey to the absolute elsewhere. Imagine you’re flying high above the Eurasian continent – maybe in a spacecraft. Below, you see primeval forest, as our ancestors knew it, with bears, wolves and the lustrous beauty of Mother Nature restored. Every so often you catch sight one of the crystalline structures, perhaps kilometres high, which stud the verdant landscape from Galway Bay to the Kamchatka peninsular.

These crystalline structures are Arologies, originally imagined by Italian architect Paulo Soleri way back in the 1960s. They are cities, like the future-metropolis in Logan’s Run, or Arthur C. Clarke’s CITY AND THE STARS. Arcologies are completely self-sufficient and ecologically sound. They generate their own power using nuclear fission or, ideally, fusion. Healthy food is produced in plankton and algae factories, while genetically engineered protein means we no longer have to kill sentient animals for food, and we can eat meat with a clear conscience. Arcologies are connected to one another via trans-continental tunnels and air and space ports, and built in such a way that in the event of a planetary catastrophe they can leave Earth and survive in deep space.

Anyone who has not volunteered to perform duties for the State is allowed to leave and return to the Arcology at any stage. They can only take with them whatever food, clothing and weapons they can carry, then find a pleasant spot to build a log cabin, and live the life of a trapper. I imagine that the valleys closer to the Arcology would be more populous than those further away, and that a sort of frontier justice would prevail, something like the environment described in William Burroughs PLACE OF DEAD ROADS. Beyond this hinterland would extend the real wilderness. Our Germanic ancestors had a strong belief in the power of “Utgard” – “the area outside” – the area uninhabited by Gods or men, as opposed to “Midgard” – “Middle Earth” – the civilized world of Gods, men and order. Utgard is where Gods and men face their greatest battles. This “Utgard” is a testing ground for youths from the Arcology, to prove themselves in initiation ceremonies, rituals, drinking bouts, man-hunts and survival skills in the wilderness. Traditional societies have no trouble in channeling youthful boisterousness; Nu Labor hasn’t got a clue and calls them “teenage yobbos”.

Inside the Arcologies, the order and authority of the Imperium prevails. Traditionalist thinkers have given less thought to technological automation than to other, perhaps more pressing matters, but 2 who have are Alexander Raven Thomson and Oswald Mosley, both of the British Union of Fascists. I think in some ways the BUF can act as a more inspiring model than the interwar continental systems, as the liberalism and Humpty Dumpty economics of 30’s British Empire is not so dissimilar to the problems all Europeans face now, whereas Italy and Germany faced specific challenges particular to their time. Thomson was the BUF corporate state theorist, one of whose ideas was motorways, and who won almost 25% of the vote in Bethnal Green in 1937. In his book Civilisation as Divine Superman (1932) Thomson wrote, “civilisation could avoid decay if it adopted as its model the communal organisation of Maeterlinck’s insect communities, ‘super-organisms’ in which individual differentiation took place within a “communal spirit shared by every member of the hive”.

Mosley himself believed the solution to the challenge of automation was the “wage-price mechanism” and autarky, or, as he put it, “the insulated self-contained area freed from the world cost system”.

Economics is from Ancient Greek and simply means “household management”: at its most basic it means being able to provide the material life-support for a society – such things as food, warmth, shelter, and (I would argue) access to communications technology. I believe production of material goods should be limited, and rationed by the State exercising a Command Economy. The economy operates on the level of society, not culture. I don’t think economics is as important as politics, and nothing for serious-minded men to fall out over. There are lots of reasons why I personally believe a planned economy is superior to a free-market economy, but here are the main 3:

1. A command economy is the most efficient way of providing a population with the basic essentials for living. Economies of scale, standardization and above all automation would free vast numbers of workers from the meaningless toil of financial and other service industries, to pursue full-time their own individual interests, joining sports clubs, studying, or just drinking and smoking and hanging out with friends. Of course, if a person wants to do something worthwhile, then they can volunteer for State service in a field to which they are suited.
The Neolithic agricultural revolution greatly increased our power over nature, but at the cost of a life of drudgery in the fields for millions of peasants, trapped under the limited horizons of Bronze Age technology. Anthropologists estimate that hunter-gatherers of the stone age only spent about an hour a day working for their survival: the rest was play and contemplation. The industrial revolution increased our ability to manipulate our environment even further, thereby eliminating agricultural labour and, currently, manufacturing labour.

We’ve already had the technology to make this automated utopia a reality for a few decades; what’s stopping us from advancing is consumer capitalism, which is above all a psychological control system. It is propped up by advertising and mass-media to keep everyone’s snouts in the trough. As Buddha (a great Aryan) discovered, the cause of suffering is desire, and desire for more and more material goods (i.e. consumer capitalism) causes more and more suffering and is unsustainable, which leads to my second reason for supporting a command economy:

My second argument is that as limited resources dwindle, we have the option of either rationing, which would lead to the introduction of a planned economy, or leaving the free market as it is. Leaving things as they are would mean only the very richest, most treacherous plutocrats would survive, and they are the very same gangsters (the Windsors, the Bushes etc.) who collaborated the most in destroying Aryan civilization.

Thirdly, command economies seem to be the best at providing military security and guaranteeing technological advance. Britain was forced to adopt a planned economy during WW1 and WW2 to ensure survival. Germany pre-1945 was the most technologically advanced country in the world, the Soviet Union was the first space power and the Americans only got a man to the moon thanks to the state-supported military-industrial complex and Werner von Braun.

To sum up automation in the words of Ernst Junger in Der Arbeiter (1932) “Beyond the democracy of labour, in which the contents of the familiar world will be remoulded and reworked, the outlines can be made out of forms of State which are not comparable to anything that has so far existed. However, what can be predicted is that neither work nor labour will exist in any sense that we have known. The discovery of work as a constituent of abundance and freedom still lies before us…The true contest is for the discovery of a new and unknown world – a discovery more destructive and pregnant with consequences than the discovery of America. It is only with awe that we can look on as man strives to sharpen weapons and hearts in the midst of chaotic upheavals, and see how prepared he is to renounce any simple way out which leads to mere happiness.
To participate in this process and to serve its cause: this is the task with which we are charged.”

We’ve had a glimpse into the future – now I’d like to talk about why Aryan, and why an Imperium.

Only a radical Imperium based on traditional Aryan concepts of synthesis can do justice to the European Faustean spirit. To quote Guillaume Faye, “The old European tradition was always modernist…We don’t stupidly revolt against contemporary Europe, but remain loyal to that which has always been part of Europe”. He is right: the dead hand of 18th century liberalism, which was superseded by continental European political and philosophical thinkers over 2 centuries ago, still clenches the world ever-tighter in its rigor mortis grip.

In MAN AND TECHNICS Spengler wrote, “Now [man] meant not merely to plunder [nature] of her materials, but to enslave and harness her very forces so as to multiply his own strength. This monstrous and unparalleled idea is as old as the Faustean Culture itself. Already in the tenth century we meet with technical constructions of a wholly new sort. Already the steam engine, the steamship, and the air machine are in the thoughts of Roger Bacon and Albertus Magnus. And many a monk busied himself in his cell with the idea of Perpetual Motion.
This last idea never thereafter let go its hold on us, for success would mean the final victory over “God or Nature”, a small world of one’s own creation moving like the great world, by virtue of its own forces and obeying the hand of man alone. To build a world oneself, to be oneself God – that is the Faustian inventor’s dream, and from it has sprung all our designing and re-designing of machines to approximate as nearly as possible the unattainable limit of perpetual motion.”

English philosopher Francis Bacon eloquently expresses the necessary violence of the Faustian spirit in his FABLE OF PROTEUS – which is all about struggle:

“If any skilful minister of nature shall apply force to nature, and by design torture and vex it in order to its annihilation, it on the contrary, being brought to this necessity, changes and transforms itself into a strange variety of shapes and appearances; for nothing but the power of the Creator can annihilate it or truly destroy it… And that method of torturing or detaining will prove the most effective and expeditious which makes use of manacles and fetters, i.e lays hold and works upon matter in the extremist degree”.

These words remind me of the CERN particle accelerator in Switzerland with its huge magnetic forces.

According to the Perennial Tradition, we are consciousness fallen into matter. Aryan civilizations’ creation of technology, Descarte’s “quantifying reductionism” and scientific materialism is a further involution, or sinking, into matter. Our consciousness delves deeper into the Matrix of matter, but I believe this to be Western civilization’s destiny and also our escape. Tradition also tells us that the switch from the dark age, the Kali Yuga, to the Golden Age, the Krita Yuga, is instantaneous. My own guess is that it could be realized with Faster-than-Light travel through the light-barrier, culminating in something like the light-show at the end of Kubrik’s 2001, or the sphere in Event Horizon. W.H. Muller’s 1995 book Polaria explores the esoteric and spiritual side of FTL travel. Of course it may be some other, at present unimaginable, transgression of technology, or spiritual discipline, that facilitates the next stage of our evolution. But when we do this, we can be sure we become something beyond human. An effect of FTL travel is that the traveller exists in all places at all times, which is one of the definitions of a God.
In the famous words of Nietzsche, "Man is a rope, tied between beast and overman--a rope over an abyss...
What is great in man is that he is a bridge and not an end: what can be loved in man is that he is an overture and a going under...”

Now for the political structure…why an Imperium

Politics is about the direction we want our civilization to grow, and the structures necessary to ensure that growth. For that, I think it’s best to read Indo-Europeanists such as Mircea Eliade, Carl Jung, Alain Danielou and Georges Dumezil who have studied archetypal recurring patterns of Aryan power and Jean Markele who emphasises the importance of synthesis and movement in the Ancient Celtic worldview, similar to Heraclitus.

Aryan Imperium must be a synthesis of that ultimate political polarity – a stable, authoritarian Imperium (represented by Ice) v freedom, creative imagination and the Italian Futurist Marinetti’s idea of speed (all of which can all be characterized as Fire). It needs to be a resolution between settler v nomads, mountain men v mariners. To translate into mythological terms it’s the combination of Muspellheim v Nifleheim which leads to the creation of Ymir, father of Gods and Giants.

Integral to any Aryan Imperium worthy of the name is the Tripartite structure. Alby Stone, another Indo-Europeanist, best describes this trifunctional society as analogous to the human body, the different qualities represented by head, arms and torso.

My own suggestion is this: Emperor rules, in consultation with a Round Table of 12 advisors (like the 12 Olympian Gods or the 12 high Gods of Asgard). All posts are elected and, once elected, last for life. Election is open to all Aryans who have completed a voluntary, time-unspecified service of duty to the State (e.g. in the Armed Forces or hospitals). There’s more about a future volunteerist state in Robert Heinlein’s STARSHIP TROOPERS.

Another useful political concept, current in the European Union but originally developed by the Catholic Church Is Subsidiarity. The tenet holds that nothing should be done by a larger and more complex organization which can be done as well by a smaller and simpler organisation.

The Imperium has as its primary directive the evolution and progress of Aryan mankind, both as an individual and as a species. The Empire collectively is committed to scientific and technical innovation; evolution of the Overman, and guarantees to provide and maintain all platforms necessary for its development: unlimited resources for scientific research and freedom of speech, education and access to participate encouraged for all Aryans.

You can have an authoritarian State which exhorts free speech; the two are not incompatible. The Kaiserreich is good example. Bismark maintained the noble German tradition of Gedankenfreiheit by letting newspapers publish whatever they wanted and the State could only act retrospectively by suing in the courts.

I think that all Aryans in the Imperium will be freer than ever before, more free possibly than we can imagine. The whole objective of the Imperium is to liberate the creative imagination of each individual, thereby adding their own unique contribution to the ever-expanding empire. Industrial automation is the technological foundation for this ultimate state of freedom.

The principal and defining social relationship of the Imperium is the comrade. Men and women are encouraged to treat each other as brother and sister, homosexuality would be no more remarkable than it was in pagan Europe. We need a re-balancing of the interests of the nation and race against those of the nuclear family. I believe Heinrich Schurtz, author of Alterklassen und Mannerbunde is right, “Schurtz emphasised that the social impulse, the drive to create communities and political institutions, was reserved only to the male. The ‘instinctive sympathy’ between men was the precondition for social life”. Julius Evola, Adolf Brand and Hans Bluher all developed ideas about how the domestic, feminine, comfortable, later bourgeois nuclear family is antithetical to Aryan achievement. For the meantime, all of Europe faces de-population, and replacement by non-Aryans. I’ve read about towns in Germany that have managed to reverse the trend by giving tax-breaks and other encouragements to larger families. Abortion-on-demand of white babies must be outlawed across the continent. The so-called “pensions crisis” is yet another lie designed to keep the public cowered while the Establishment promotes third world immigration. It is easily solved with automation and a planned economy.

A word about language Proto-Indo-European, which scholars have been researching for 150 years now, is the ideal future Lingua Franca, with national languages taught in schools as second languages. Nearly all modern languages in Europe evolved from Indo-European, so not only would we learn the roots and thought processes involved in our own language, but we’d also be learning it for all European languages, making them easier to speak.

Territorial Extent

Eurasia
I imagine an Aryan Imperium stretching from Reykjavik to Vladivostok, including the whole of the European continent, Russia and Siberia. In particular, Aryan Futurists recognize the brutality of Hitlerism against our Slav brothers, and the continual undermining of the Slavic folk by the Western plutocracies and alien infiltration. There are 3 reasons why I feel especially optimistic about Russia and eastern Europe. Firstly, the region has a history of Aryan spirituality and culture going back millennia. Secondly, the region has the greatest concentration anywhere of undiluted Aryans. Thirdly, recent political developments, such as the increasing popularity of Eurasianism and National Bolshevism demonstrate burgeoning biocultural, racial and cultural awareness. Russia must be allowed to take the leading role as a nation in building the Imperium, if she so desires.
From north to south, we can imagine an Aryan homeland extending southward from the North Pole to around 34-36 degrees latitude. That would include Gibraltar, Malta, Crete and Cyprus, but exclude Jerusalem and the Middle East. (I believe this particular exclusion is vital, but others may disagree). The only salient non-Aryan civilizations that extend a little north of this latitude are the Oriental civilizations of China, Korea and Japan. Oriental civilization has a separate destiny from that of the West, we are on different roads, so we should secure their borders with the Imperium amicably, and leave them to their own fate.

Arctic Citadel
To avoid any lingering petty nationalist quarrels, a new capital city can be built in geodesic orbit above the North Pole. Hyperborean Aryans have a prior historic claim to the North Pole (Thule), demonstrated by Carl Jung and Mircea Eliade.

Space above the Polar Axis to be reserved for a 4-square castellated crystal space city, as envisaged in Aryan mythology from Arianrhod’s Fort in Celtic folklore to Mount Meru in Hinduism.
“If you build it, they will come”. You may recognize this quote from Field of Dreams. What I mean by it - is that a civilization needs a goal, a destination to mobilize around in order to demonstrate it’s true greatness. For the Romans it was Pax Augustus and the Golden Age celebrated by Virgil, for the Ancient Egyptians the building of the pyramids, and for the Germans a 1,000 year empire. Goethe tells us that great events cast their shadow before them, and I believe the Aryan mythos, which locates the gods of Asgard at the North Pole, is the shadow of that great event that still lies before us. That event is the transformation of Man into God.

Ringing the Arctic Ocean is a highly desirable consequence of a Eurasian, and eventually circumpolar, Aryan Imperium. If the Arctic was ice-free, then it would have by far the busiest shipping lanes in the world, and correspondingly massive ports and cities. All the other oceans and seas in the world would become backwaters. European sailors have always understood the need for Arctic trade, from the Vikings and Hanseatic League to the adventurers searching for a Northwest passage from the 15th to 19th centuries.

Politically and ideologically, the United States is the catastrophic result of a failed liberal-humanist experiment by 18th century Europeans. Even worse, many of the original white settlers had been driven out of Europe because of their extreme Christian fundamentalism…a fundamentalism that lives on today in the Red Republican states that voted for George W. Bush, and also in their Christian Identity nationalist groups.

If Canada and at least parts of the United States opt to join the Imperium, then we surround the Arctic Ocean completely and it becomes a “mare nostrum” (our sea) in the same way that the Mediterranean became “mare nostrum” for the Romans.

The scientific consensus is that the Arctic will be ice-free by the end of the century, but I’d like to think that by 2100 our technology would have made maritime navigation irrelevant, except for hobbyists; instead we can use airships and inter-continental tunnels for transport.

The Polar Axis City will be the launch-pad for the Aryan Space Empire (which happily has the acronym ASE=from race of Germanic Gods), incorporating the terrestrial Imperium stretching across Eurasia and the Arctic, additional strategic locations on Earth, especially on the Equator for satellite launches/ space elevators, and of course any planets, satellites, planetary systems and regions of space that we occupy. Equatorial bases would be negotiated in friendly consultation with Chinese, Japanese, Indians, Latin Americans and any other culture that survives the collapse of the plutocratic New World Order.
GREEN – HOW TO GET THERE

Political Futurist Party September 1918 Rome “intuits present needs and articulates precisely the consciousness of the whole race in its purging revolutionary momentum. The party can be joined by all Italians, men or women, of any class or age, even if artistic and literary concepts are beyond them”.

How to get there. Our great advantage is that people know this stuff instinctively through what Michael Moynihan has called meta-genetics. Georges Sorel said we need a myth to mobilize the folk, and I say what better myth than the true one, the ones that speak of Aryan origins and destiny, the one that every Aryan knows in their blood.

The French post-modernist Paul Virilo has emphasised the importance of being physically in a place to force change, in his book Speed and Politics. It’s what he calls Dromology, getting people onto the streets, as in the French Revolution or unemployed Germans after 1929-30.

I believe the next step would be to establish “Aryan cultural centres” in the heart of every town and city across the continent. These centres would be much more than just offices – they would have barrack dormitories, bars, sports facilities, libraries, temples or a pantheon to all the Aryan gods (which could also be used as a bar), as well as offices with IT for communications/ propaganda. Rural Cultural centres could provide their urban counterparts with free, organic food, in exchange for new recruits and their labour. I think it’s better to concentrate resources on that sort of practical project (as the Arktion Federation is doing with the Jomsburg farm project), rather than wasting resources on elections and lost deposits. After all, south London has some sort of immigrant legal rights drop-in shop or refugee community centre in every high street, but nothing for the people who built this city.

The function of these cultural centres is to promote Aryan culture, in its broadest sense, and defend our people. Oswald Mosley had something similar in the 1930s (sadly without the pagan temples!) which he called “Black Houses”:

“In the autumn of 1933 it [the B.U.F.] acquired the lease of Whiteland Teachers Training College in the King’s Road, Chelsea, which became know as Black House. It was a cross between an administrative headquarters, social club and army camp. Other Black Houses in the main urban centres were formed on the same model. In the original one, hundreds of members of I Squad or the London Defence Force slept, ate and lived to the sound of the bugle summoning them for reveille (re-valley) meal-times, parades and lights out. They trained in gymnastics, boxing and judo. They roared out in their military-looking vans to defend speakers or rescue them in trouble.”

Instead of judo, I’d suggest some native martial art as researched by Pennick and others.

Recruitment: sci-fi conventions, teenage games magazines, gay scene

I think it’s very important, not just symbolically, that these meeting are taking place in the heart of the parasitic Leviathan, a founder-capital of the New World Order and home to Winston Churchill and the Rothschilds. As you know, London is one of the citadels of multi-racism, global capitalism and everything we hate, and has been for centuries, since Henry VIII, Oliver Cromwell and especially since the 1688 Glorious Revolution and the foundation of the Bank of England. My feeling is if a strong, intelligent, positive Aryan movement can start here and succeed, under the noses of our foes, then it can succeed anywhere.

Finally, I’d like to end with a quote from Ortega y Gasset, “Europeans do not know how to live unless they are engaged in some great enterprise. When this is lacking, they grow petty and feeble and their souls disintegrate.”

Aryan Futurism is for everyone who feels the fire of Aryan aspiration and achievement in their blood. Above all, it is about action for the future.

Futurist Spectrum: Infrared to Ultraviolet

Futurist Spectrum
Alisdair_Clarke@hotmail.com

New Right and Traditionalist speculations on futurism can be imagined as a spectrum, with the realists at the infra-red end and romantics and poets verging toward ultra-violet. A few, most notably the Italian Futurist Filippo Marinetti, fought not to be restricted to a certain point on that continuum; the man who could anticipate and wax lyrical about Twenty-First Century alternative technology, “the energy of distant winds and rebellious seas, transformed into millions of kilowatts by the genius of man, would be distributed everywhere…regulated by the the keyboards vibrating under the fingers of technicians” practising “the religion of extrinsic will and daily heroism” was the same man to head a campaign against Italians eating spaghetti in the early 1930s.

Germans took note of that initial bright blue burst of Futurism from Italy, but their futurism was to be of a more serious and sombre variety. Oswald Spengler stressed the inevitability of technology for Western civilization as a part of our Faustian spirit and destiny. Junger and Niekisch were more celebratory of the efficiency, dynamism and productive power of modern technology, and the possibilities it could open up for the individual and society. Meanwhile in practical, pragmatic England, at the red, realist end of the spectrum, Alexander Raven Thomson of the British Union of Fascists proposed a model for an automated civilization in part inspired by insect-hives.

After the War, while consumer capitalism was refining cybernetics, Traditionalists and Conservative Revolutionaries unsurprisingly stuck to the Romantic and metaphysical, ultra-violet side of the spectrum. James Madole was sufficiently distanced, geographically at least, from the catastrophe in Europe to influence the National Renaissance Party in the United States. Madole and his futurist ideas were themselves influenced by Theosophy and other occult sources. Later, in Europe and America, again in the ultra-violet, metaphysical realms, science-fiction writers like Michael X. Barton, Wilhelm Landig, Jean Parvulesco, Ernst Zundel and W.A. Harbinson developed a Nazi/ UFO/ Survival mythology, which extended to the Aryan Aldebaran thesis of Austrian science fiction in the 1990s. For a book at the outer limits of ultra-violet, try “The Black Sun: Montauk’s Nazi-Tibetan Connection” by Peter Noon. Philip K. Dick’s “The Man in the High Castle” is a (slightly) more mainstream science fiction novel about an Axis victory in World War Two, which contains some interesting ideas. Reflections of this UFO/ survival mythology can be caught in mainstream popular culture, such as in “The X-Files Movie” which depicts the aesthetic perfection of silver spacecraft gliding over the glittering purity of Antarctic glaciers and ice-mountains.

Just as Marinetti’s Futurism marked the start of the Twentieth Century, so the brilliant, emerald-green flash of Guillaume Faye’s Archeo-Futurism marked its end. Faye emerged from GRECE, which had always been pro-technology. “In the 20th century appeared the possibility for men to transform and dominate themselves, and to go much farther than simply adapting to their surroundings in forging their own environment; the prospect of biology, electronics, genetic engineering, telematics, astrophysics and space research announce the coming of the ‘third man’.”- GRECE statement.

Guillaume Faye and GRECE were of revolutionary significance because they were the first to systematically merge George Dumezil’s recent discoveries of Aryan tri-partite structuralism with contemporary politics and technology, to be made manifest in the pagan Imperium.

My own belief is that the idea of synthesis/ the Hegelian dialectic/ resolution of opposites into a singularity is at the heart of Aryan mythology and cosmogenesis. It is represented most often as the (North) Pole; Hlidskalf – Odin’s throne – above Asgard in the Eddas. I contend that Asgard/ Olympus/ Caer Arianrhod is a blueprint for the future.

Recent Futurisms, apart from Archeo-Futurism, include Constantin von Hoffmeister’s National Futurism
www.newnation.com/Hoffmeister/index, the Surreal Futurism of Ars Vindex www.rosenoir.org/articles/surreal.php, and my own Aryan Futurism. As an Anglo, I’m typically at the redder end of the spectrum, concerned with nuts & bolts and organizing practicalities like the environment and economy. Just as Le Corbusier imagined homes as “machines for living” in an ideal (fascist) civilization, so I can imagine Paolo Soleri’s Arcologies (massive hermetically-sealed self-sufficient cities) as “machines for conquest”. Not for mundane territorial expansion, but for the ultimate conquest of Space and Time.

Futurism and Progress

In his “Age of Ideologies” (1982) Karl Dietrich Bracher argues that since the Enlightenment, two opposing ideas of progress have fought it out in Europe: progress as freedom versus progress as power. Generally, liberals and leftists supported the idea of progress as freedom, while Hegel and thinkers on the right took the opposite view.

Freedom is a tricky, ambiguous word. A man can be free “from” the material world, i.e. live as an ascetic hermit, or a Buddhist who has renounced desire. Alternatively, a man can be free “to” the material world, meaning he has access to everything material, but everything material has access – purchase – to the man. The man becomes a free offerer, and a free offer, in the supermarket of life.

Power has no such ambiguity; a man can only have power “over” the material world. One aspect of power is the ability to manipulate matter in accordance with will, which is one of the essential components of the Faustian spirit and the basis of Futurism.

Finally, some of the liberal and universalist futurists still occasionally have some useful ideas, despite their mistaking our particular European industrial civilization for a universal civilization. H.G. Wells (especially in “Shape of Things to Come”), Arthur C. Clarke and the Catholic theologian Teilhard de Chardin all have interesting ideas concerning evolution, amongst other things, which can be adapted to New Right metapolitics.

Aryan Futurism: Total

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. It’s a great, hot, sunny afternoon, which means it’s clear, and when it’s clear we can see further. So I want to see how far we can see. First I’ll discuss for a bit where we are now, then I’ll talk about where we could be, what it will look like, and finally I’ll discuss how we could get there: how to re-align folk away from the current human rights agenda and towards European nationalism and growth. Then questions…

RED – CONTEMPORARY

1.Environmental degradation. Global warming, rising sea levels. Which leads on to my second point…
2.We live in a world of depleting resources, ruthlessly exploited in the name of an unsustainable consumerism and Humpty-dumpty economics. Crisis has already started. Lower living standards in UK & US; women having to contribute to work-force to keep whole show on the road
3.Crisis of democratic legitimacy across the West – e.g. in UK postal voting (possibly to curry ethnic-minority vote. Labour still suspiciously holding-out that heads of households only, need provide proof to register to vote).
4.Fundamentalist-inspired terrorism, and more general threat from monotheism: Jewish, Christian, Islam.
5.Fragmentation caused by multi-culturalism. Compare and contrast with Northern Ireland (Scottish protestant colonization 300 years ago). If 2 communities sharing same race, same monotheistic religion, same history can’t get along, what hope is there for our multi-racial cities?
6.Finally, and decisively, European loss of spirituality which equates with consciousness, and why the slogan Europe Awake! is more relevant than ever.

All these challenges to our civilization are the direct result of the corrosive universal solvent of liberal individualism that acts on the body politic like the monster’s blood destroying the Nostromo in Alien (people are encouraged to take what they want, and sod the consequences). Since 1945, the liberal capitalist world-view has become so pervasive and absolute that only absolute rebellion can guarantee success. I believe that WW2 has become for the West what the myth of Troy was for the Greeks; it is the foundation myth for the Atlanticist New World Order with the Germans standing in for the Trojans, and the Allies as Greeks. They remember that the Greeks won the battle, but we remember they lost the war, because it was the Trojan Aeneas who founded the Latin race, and Rome; who eventually conquered Greece.

YELLOW – HOW THINGS COULD BE

Before discussing in detail the themes of the Aryan Futurist Imperium, those being why Aryan? Why Imperium? And the political and economic structure and territorial extent, I’d like first of all to take you on a journey to the absolute elsewhere…

Physical Environment

Imagine an arcology – a glass and steel pyramid perhaps 5 kilometers high – surrounded by forests. The arcology was first suggested by Italian architect Paulo Soleri in the 1960s. They’re structures like the future-city in Logan’s Run, or Arthur C. Clarke’s CITY AND THE STARS. It is completely self-sufficient, it provides food and above all generates its own power either using nuclear fission or, ideally, fusion. Inside the city are plankton and algae factories, possibly protein produced by genetic engineering which avoids need to kill sentient life for food – so we can eat meat and still be vegetarian. Also power stations, spaceports and all urban amenities. Land outside the arcology reverts to an entirely natural state. Ideally, each Arcology is constructed in such a way that in the event of a planetary catastrophe it can leave Earth and survive in deep space.

Now imagine a series of Arcologies stretching east/ west from the Kamchatka peninsula to Galway Bay and north/ south from Cyprus to the North Pole, with high-velocity connections using trans-continental tunnels and air/ space stations.

Everyone living in the arcology will at all times have a choice of 3 options:
1.Volunteer to work for the Imperium for a fixed renewable period. Voluntary work confers permanent citizenship benefits, but volunteers are temporarily disqualified from the 2 following options
2.Enjoy life just as they like in the arcology, whether that’s by joining sports clubs, studying, taking up a hobby or simply hanging out with friends
3.Braving the outside world and accepting the challenge of the wilderness.

Land between Arcologies reverts to primeval forest, as it was familiar to our ancestors, with bears, wolves and all the lustrous beauty of Mother Nature restored. This hinterland will only be used for re-creation, in the truest sense of the word

You can leave the arcology, with what food, clothing, weapons etc. you could carry, find a pleasant spot to build a log cabin, and live the life of a trapper. You would be free at all times to return to the arcology, alternatively you could strike out on your own or with friends on a mountain adventure. But remember, no chopper would come from the arcology to rescue you if you find yourself in difficulties; you’re on your own.

This “Utgard” could also be used for male rituals for youths from the arcology, to prove themselves in initiation ceremonies, drinking bouts, hunting adventures, man-hunts and survival skills in the wilderness. Traditional societies have no trouble in channeling youthful boisterousness; Nu Labor hasn’t got a clue and calls them “teenage yobbos”.

We have the technology ready to create everything that I have described above (apart from nuclear fusion) – all that’s lacking is political will. Forthcoming technological breakthroughs we can anticipate include nuclear fusion (greatest discovery since fire?). Nano-technology, and using carbon nanotubes to build a space elevator, genetics and self-replicating robots (such as the modular cubes or “molecubes”developed at Cornell). All Aryans, urban and rural, pro and anti-technology, can thrive in this vision of our possible tomorrow.

Aryan Imperium

Why Aryan?
Only a radical Imperium based on traditional Aryan concepts of synthesis can do justice to Europeans of the future. To quote Guillaume Faye, “The old European tradition was always modernist…We don’t stupidly revolt against contemporary Europe, but remain loyal to that which has always been part of Europe”. Another identitarian (Pierre Krebs?) describes the contemporary West as not modernist but gegenwartig – presentist. He is right: the dead hand of 18th century liberalism, which was superseded by continental European political and philosophical thinkers over 2 centuries ago, still clenches the world ever-tighter in its rigor mortis grip.

Imperium must promote Aryan Faustean Spirit & Technology

In MAN AND TECHNICS Spengler wrote, “Man, evidently, was tired of merely having plants and animals and slaves to serve him, and robbing nature’s treasures of metal and stone, wood and canals, of managing her water in canals and wells, of breaking her resistances with ships and roads, bridges and tunnels and dams. Now he meant not merely to plunder her of her materials, but to enslave and harness her very forces so as to multiply his own strength.

English philosopher Francis Bacon eloquently expresses the necessary violence of Faustian spirit in FABLE OF PROTEUS – which is all about struggle:

“If any skilful minister of nature shall apply force to nature, and by design torture and vex it in order to its annihilation, it on the contrary, being brought to this necessity, changes and transforms itself into a strange variety of shapes and appearances; for nothing but the power of the Creator can annihilate it or truly destroy it… And that method of torturing or detaining will prove the most effective and expeditious which makes use of manacles and fetters, i.e lays hold and works upon matter in the extremist degree”.

These words remind me of the CERN particle accelerator with its huge magnets.

According to the Perennial Tradition, we are consciousness fallen into matter. Aryan civilizations’ creation of technology, Descarte’s “quantifying reductionism” and scientific materialism is a further involution, or sinking, into matter. Our consciousness delves deeper into the Matrix of matter, but I believe this to be Western civilization’s destiny and also our escape, our salvation.

WHY IMPERIUM?

POLITICAL STRUCTURE

All land and property is owned and governed by the Emperor alone, on behalf of the people. For more about a volunteerist state, see Robert Heinlein’s STARSHIP TROOPERS.

Another useful political concept, current in the European Union but originally developed by the Catholic Church Is Subsidiarity. The tenet holds that nothing should be done by a larger and more complex organization which can be done as well by a smaller and simpler organisation”.

Non-Aryan nations in Europe that have been proved historically to be compatible with Aryan civilization (e.g. Basques, Hungarians, Finns) should continue to maintain their current status, with the option of full integration into the Imperium by plebiscite.

I believe you can run a near-totalitarian regime and still have free internet and free press. China seems to be developing in this direction.

The principal and defining social relationship of the ASE is the comrade. Men and women are encouraged to treat each other as brother and sister, homosexuality would be no more remarkable than it was in pagan Europe. We need a re-balancing of the interests of the nation and race against those of the nuclear family. I believe Heinrich Schurtz, author of Alterklassen und Mannerbunde is right, “In this comparative cultural study, which was a best-seller and set the tone of the ideology of the Mannerbund in Germany, Schurtz expounded his theory of the dual primal impulses in man, the sexual and the social drive. Woman, according to him, was governed completely by the urge to procreate and provide for, inherent in her sexual impulse. From that he concluded that her capacities were restricted to what he considered to be the most primitive social unit, the family. Schurtz emphasised that the social impulse, the drive to create communities and political institutions, was reserved only to the male. Most of my family are Catholic, but one thing we still agree about is abortion. Abortion-on-demand of white babies must be outlawed across the continent. The so-called “pensions crisis” is yet another lie designed to keep the public cowered while the Establishment promotes third world immigration. It is easily solved with automation and a planned economy.

Language Proto-Indo-European, with national languages taught in schools as second languages.

Control of North America and Greenland would complete the circum-polar empire. Greenland is unproblematic (I think Denmark still holds ultimate sovereignty) but I have avoided discussing North America.

Aryan Space Empire

ECONOMIC STRUCTURE

Traditionalist thinkers have given less thought to technological automation than to other, perhaps more pressing matters, but 2 who have are Alexander Raven Thomson and Oswald Mosley, both of the British Union of Fascists. I don’t think economics is as important as politics, and nothing for serious-minded men to fall out over, and I think in some ways the BUF can act as a more inspiring model than the interwar continental systems, as the liberalism of 30’s British Empire is not so dissimilar to the problems all Europeans face now, whereas Italy and Germany faced specific challenges particular to their time.

Oswald Mosley himself thought that The danger to the whole of industrial society was that "under the old economics these few specialists would draw enormous wages and the rest would be unemployed. No market would then exist for the ever-increasing products of the machines, which would pile up in the midst of a surrounding waste of poverty." This was "the logical reduction to absurdity of a system which had never devised any effective means of distributing the wealth which modern science can produce." It was precisely the same problem which had led him to write Revolution by Reason -- but now much graver.
Thus in his 1955 essay, and in greater detail in Europe: Faith and Plan three years later, he outlined his solution: the "wage-price mechanism.”. This was a policy for the deliberate raising of wages and salaries in the primary industries and the multiplying services in order to create an adequate market for manufacturing industry as it turned to automation. Two other things would be required: a new type of government in charge of the policy, working with the unions and the managers throughout, and "the insulated self-contained area freed from the world cost system." The large self-contained area was needed to provide a really big market for the immense potential of the automation age.
Since Mosley’s time, we’ve had significant advances in technology, especially in genetics and information technology. In view of these advances, and the environment, my ideas are that production of material goods should be limited, automated and rationed by the State exercising a command economy, thereby at a stroke freeing the population from the curse of wage slavery and wasteful consumer capitalism. All State production which is surplus to providing the population to a minimum material standard, will be directed towards scientific and technological research and development. Complex operations requiring human supervision can be performed by State volunteers.

Economics is from Ancient Greek and simply means “household management”: at its most basic it means being able to provide the material life-support for a society – such things as food, warmth, shelter, and (I would argue) access to communications technology. Standardization, automation and economies of scale would render most of the present work-force, largely employed in financial and service industries, free to follow more worthwhile pursuits. The economy operates on the level of society, not culture.

Anthropologists estimate that hunter-gatherers of the Palaeolithic only spent about an hour a day working for their survival: the rest was play and contemplation.

Throughout the late Twentieth Century automation has shifted a greater percentage of workers from productive, manufacturing jobs to non-productive “work” such as financial services and commercial law. As Buddha (a great Aryan) discovered, the cause of suffering is desire, and desire for more and more material goods (i.e. consumer capitalism) causes more and more suffering and is unsustainable, which leads to my second reason for supporting a command economy:

2. As limited resources dwindle, we have the option of either rationing, which would lead to the introduction of a planned economy, or leaving the free market as it is. Leaving things as they are would mean only the very richest, most treacherous plutocrats would survive, and they are the very same gangsters (the Windsors, the Bushes etc.) who collaborated the most in destroying Aryan civilization.

3. Command economies seem to be the best at providing military security and guaranteeing technological advance.

Oswald Mosley, leader of the British Union of Fascists, had something similar in the 1930s (sadly without the pagan temples!) which he called “Black Houses”:

“In the autumn of 1933 it [the B.U.F.] acquired the lease of Whiteland Teachers Training College in the King’s Road, Chelsea, which became know as Black House. It was a cross between an administrative headquarters, social club and army camp. Other Black Houses in the main urban centres were formed on the same model. In the original one, hundreds of members of I Squad or the London Defence Force slept, ate and lived to the sound of the bugle summoning them for reveille, meal-times, parades and lights out. They trained in gymnastics, boxing and judo. They roared out in their military-looking vans to defend speakers or rescue them in trouble. From Black House, a thousand stewards marched out for their epic battle with the ‘Reds’ at Olympia.” Robert Skidelsky Oswald Mosley (1975)
